Apparently Nintendo will have over 10 million consoles readily available. There should be no shortage. I my opinion they should release it the way the Steam Deck was only available via their website and you had to have an account.

Millennial here. I own a ps5, switch, GameCube, N64, Dreamcast, and a PC. I like the different genres of games on each. Although I haven’t booted up my ps5 in such a long time. The PC has replaced the 2 mega consoles, leaving my switch for exclusives and when I wanna take a break from competitive playstyle. (Pokemon)

I don’t think the Nintendo Switch 2 will be as popular as the original Switch, and here’s why: When the Switch launched in 2017, there were no competitors like the Steam Deck or other handheld systems capable of playing AAA games. The Switch filled a unique gap in the market. But now, with the release of devices like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Legion Go, the landscape has changed dramatically. On these PC handhelds, you don’t have to wait for games to be ported like you do for the Switch. You can play full-quality PC games, like Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, or The Witcher 3, without sacrificing performance or graphics. And unlike the Switch, you’re not limited to games optimized specifically for the system. You can just download and play almost any game that’s already available on Steam or other PC platforms. The cost comparison doesn’t favor the Switch 2, either. If the Switch 2 launches at $400, you could get a used Steam Deck, ROG Ally, or similar system for about the same price. While the hardware costs are similar, PC gaming is much cheaper in the long run thanks to Steam sales and CD key sites, where games are often a fraction of the price of their Switch counterparts. A game that’s $60 or $70 on the Switch might cost $5 during a Steam sale. In 2017, the Switch was groundbreaking because there was nothing else like it. But now, PC handhelds have caught up and surpassed it, offering better hardware, cheaper games, and more versatility. Nintendo doesn’t have the same advantage it had before, and I think the Switch 2 will struggle to match the success of its predecessor in this new market.
