Please take this as constructive, because I enjoy your channel. Over the top, sensationalist descriptors such as 'huge order' and ''massive news" come across as clickbait. You've moved away from it in recent months. Please don't go back there. It's so much more useful just to say "Cathay Airbus A330 order", so your viewers know the content of the video. It also helps with searching etc.

@@smoketinytom But given Trent 7000 is not as troubled and XWB actually pretty decent, that contributed to their decision to not adopting GENx powered 787 instead. But hardly surprised as they were also hesitant at some point to adopt 777-300ER just because there's no Trent 800, while having the rare RB-211 powered L-1011 and 747s. They're also launch customer of both Trent 700 and 800. Also it seems HAECO didn't have MRO rights for GENx despite Cathay's 747-8F fleet, while having a closer relationship with RR in maintenance. Just like Delta or AF/KLM, Cathay would want to keep that sort of inhouse.

Good news for Airbus, I read somewhere that the longer the range the better the 787 compared to A330 neo. It is good to see any new orders whoever aircraft manufacturer. Just checked and I didnt realise Cathay had so many A330's reaching 20 years old plus. If you get a much improved relacement and have a fleet with A321s and A350s as well, the order is no great surprise

Or that 787 adds little value to Cathay? - 787 has better range that they are not using anyway - nothing beats A350 when it comes to longhaul heavy, and Cathay is a big player in cargo. - GENx is arguably more reliable among current generation engines, but they are famous for being very loyal to RR. - 787-10 has higher payload and capacity for shorter haul, though for some reasons they decided not make use of them. Meanwhile they are having lots of A330s now, and some anyway moving forward. Air Hong Kong within the group have a significant and growing A330 freighter fleet.

The A330neo doesn’t owe Airbus much; the development cost was pretty low. Airbus can afford to give good prices. Besides, they use this to ensure that even if the lose a sale to 787, they know Boeing are not making any money on the deal. That suits Airbus just fine. AC making big improvement on OTP? was on a flight from YYZ to LIS last night August 10th . At first flight was delayed by 45, then by another hour then changed of plane at the end we departed at 01:30 on August 11th. There were at least 7 other flights that were delayed on the same night. The best joke was the slice of pound cake accompanied with a Iogo yogurt and a cup of tea or coffee for breakfast thrown to you by the FA in a paper bag. No wonder they are making tons of profit. If you've got lucky once good for you hopefully you get lucky on your next flight on AC . Honestly happy with Air Canada recently, I used to really dislike them because they had so many issues, but recently, they really seem like they're trying to improve. Service has gotten way better in the recent flights with them. The Comfort on the cabins of their newer planes is leagues better than before, and much better than any other Canadian airline. Their On time performance recently has been impeccable. Looking at the airport board and seeing a billion flight cancelations and delays in canada is normal, but I never thought I'd look at that board, and every one of those be Westjet, and not Air Canada. Even the one time I had a flight delay recently, due to matinence issues, they gave everyone on the flight $50 vouchers for any store in the airport. I know some people will think more compensation is deserved, but it's a massive step forward for Air Canada. Seeing as a few years ago, they probably would have given no compensation. They're really trying to cater to their passengers and its truly been a massive improvement.

@@nickolliver3021 Does it matter? lol Cathay management decided moving forward they would have mostly buses other than 21 777Xs, which actually matters.

Air Canada pilots will be going on strike in September unless they get a new contract. They want parity with US operators.

The airline companies in Canada are bad. I have to pay 600-700cad from YVR to YYZ, while I can go to NYC from LAX for 300cad. The power of monopoly…

I’ve flown lots of airlines and air Canada hasn’t been bad for me except when they didn’t give me boarding tickets for all my connecting flights which forced me to go through security at a layover airport. I found Lufthansa to be the worst with lost and damaged luggage and generally rude staff. Korean airlines was the best

I had always chosen Air Canada whenever possible. I stopped. I hate boeing aircrafts and the airline is obviously heavily investing in them. Hate 787s and have no faith in 737s MAX at all. For me, boeing has lied enough.
