Hi Kales, when you "pop up" it often looks like you "chicken wing" with the right leg, and sometimes it appears that you are actually on the right knee before the leading left leg is placed between the hands, is this so? And could you please do a sloooooow video explanation of your pop up technique. Thanks in advanced anticipation :D

Nice advice and technics. Been surfing since late 1987 and still learning, especially now with media and KZbin. Learning curve was way longer when you don’t have a coach except watching others and many years in the ocean. Good waves and not chop is way easier. Try surfing for decades in junky mostly choppy surf with no much swell. Years of wear and tear on my body

Great stuff. I'd like to see another paddling video describing the actual paddling stroke. Is it different when paddling out vs catching a wave? I sometimes notice people doing the "S" stroke where you pull your hand under the board at the top of stroke (and I think you use some bicep instead of all shoulder) and then out to the side and back. Do you do this when catching a wave also, or is just a straight stroke for increased rate (since I imagine the S stroke is slower)? Thanks!

Hey Kale - the banana back shape works! recently I went out with a mate and watched him wave after wave returning slower and more worn out to the line-up with a flat back. I found being more profound and focussed on back shape, I had way more energy and paddle power! We talked about it later and he did indeed feel tired and fatigued. Banana back woop woop.

Your "bubble" theory is great... i've never asked myself about this "problem"... But, your conclusion is : paddle hard in bubbles to get out this zone faster.... For me, my first thought would be to paddle lighter in bubble zone (to save energy), and when i'm out of it, paddle hard to get the more efficiency.... Am i wrong with this "theory" ? (sorry for my english, like all french i'm noob in english !)
@HowtoRip5 жыл бұрын
Yes but as I mentioned if you slow down it increases the chances of waves crashing on you and thus it takes longer to get out the back
@michaelwilson87605 жыл бұрын
I tried this out, basically float slide glide kick or shallow paddle asap to push your way out past the wash into green water then go again paddling hard, ducking as needed, as shown, thanks xx, it does help a lot to maintain continuity to get to where the best waves are, i found the lesson very helpful to give me drive to maintain an anerobic burst of effort to sustain deep adequate paddle intensity all the way quickly until one can get a decent greennwall out the back ! Efficiency 8mmdeiate intensity and stamina !
