Great tip for any new plant parent (including myself), the biggest cause of plant death for beginners is over watering. Never water your plants if the soil is already wet, if it's still moist and you don't know if you should water it, leave it be, if the soil is bone dry (dry and hard as a rock) then you can drench your plant a few times in the sink and make sure you see water trickling out of the drainage holes each time. Most plants are resilient and much prefer to go without water then to be overwatered (because that can cause root rot very quickly) Before i got all my house plants, I just had one accidentally sprouted avocado pit, he's now almost a year old and has been the best plant for me to learn from, his leaves start getting droopy (or pouty) when he is thirsty, and many plants will start this drooping when they are thirsty! They're much easier than we think, they are pretty independent just like us humans, they just need some basic life essentials every so often :) Hope this helps at least one person 😂❤

Very helpful indeed! Thank you for sharing. Over caring by way of watering can suffocate their roots 👍🪴

ALSO remember that over watering is not about how much you water in one sitting, it's how often you water. ALWAYS soak the roots thoroughly until you're sure that all parts of the soil has been saturated. This is good for the plant, and just water when the plant needs water. Don't water on a schedule, let the plant tell you when it is thirsty. Different plants also like different amounts of water. So arum lilies, for example, like to be moist. Mine get thirsty about every three days, when the top soil is dry, but my cacti and succulents only like to be watered when ALL of the soil is dry. You can tell if they need water because their plump leaves will go softer than usual.

ideally you don't want to use scissors for gardening/trimming plants. Those scissors are designed to cut paper. Using those scissors on plants will give the bevel of the blade nicks and scuffs

Thankfully all these plants have now grown into beautiful mature plants and have thrived
