Personally, I don't like it. They're tearing up land, transforming the area into something else entirely. This isn't unique to Montana, but it stings a bit more here because Montana has such lovely landscapes.

It may improve the affordability of living in Montana but it detracts from why we would want to live in Montana.
@slandshark7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately it's inevitable. Locals are complaining about out of states moving in causing the prices to rise and the area to become unaffordable. So city tries to quickly build homes to soften the housing prices, making it easier for locals to afford homes. Then you have the out of staters running from areas that are completely out of control in terms of pricing. But nobody wants them to move into these more affordable neighbors. Question is, where should they go? Realistically you can't tell them to move into middle of nowhere areas with no amenities, etc. These are people moving with their families/kids and looking for places they may retire in. That can't happen in areas where there's no stores or amenities like healthcare, etc. There is no option that makes everybody happy. If the city blocked all house building you'd see house prices immediately skyrocket forcing locals to move out due to pricing.

@@slandshark I like the idea you with put houses outside the cities, in a reasonably scenic local that also affords more privacy than the usual urban sprawl. There was nothing inevidable about the surge of 'newcomers' running to Montana from California and NY/NYC. It may be an advantage to get residency but the winters are hard for most people, and all services are sparse. Many people find out they are missing the restaurants and selections in the grocery stores, shopping they enjoy, and all the things they left behind. It turns out, many houses new or that they had updated are empty. If all someone wants is the residence requirement, I could sell a fractional interest in acerage I am not using.🤔

They just added hundred of apts and homes here because it was needed and the prices went up immediately on homes and apts. now 500k for a nothing townhouse and 1800 for a one bedroom. And I live in a truck stop off a major interstate with 2 gas stations a couple taco trucks and 2 fleabag motels. But we also just built 8 data centers so no affordable housing just more expensive housing.

Well, it’s the same expansion thats going on in Idaho as people from California, Washington are moving out. We have a lot of people migrating into this country and they have to live somewhere. We have multiple housing plans going on around us now here in PA.. and they’re starting at 300 to 400k on up!! The question I ask is where is all of this money coming from?? A lot of our deals are all cash!

There is hope. We are heading intona severe economic recession right now which will slow that down to a crawl. It was coming in 2018 & 19 but then got printed over in 2020/21 with 8T dollars and all kinds of other games> now it's time to pay the piper.
@Mark1959Holladay7 ай бұрын
@@Michael-qy1jz You are correct but it's been coming for a lot longer than you might think. I remember getting out of the military in the 70's and paying $250.00 a month for a furnished one bedroom apartment with a pool and a great view of the Rockies just outside of Denver. Hanging drywall making $20-$30 dollars an hour in the residential (non union) home market. Blue collar built this country, white collar/banking with their scams, greed, and the folks who played by the rules got financially raped. There was a day when a person's word was worth something. Sadly those days are gone as well as the folks who would stand by their word are a (as they say) dying breed. My bride and I love living deep in the mountains of NC/TN and us old folks work our small ranch/farm. Blessings

The home prices will NOT fall with this growth. Cost of goods and ground to build these on will raise cost of square foot in market area. 1200 ft for 500k …We lived in Denver for 45 years and saw this happen live. Kalispell will be ruined.
