Augments were never going to work with the current room scanning system. It misaligns the scanned room with the real work way too often and that would make the augments useless.

It could if you could design your own walls and Windows etc from start. edit it after scan isn't working great at all. You can't even place items floating in air it has to be from ground up. Most graphic edit programs on facebook vr can do it like gravity sketch and arkio. Guess those developers are smarter as facebook employees bahahaha maybe they should hire the oculus people back.

Fun fact about the eye trackibg tech, the white part of our eye is actually visible because it’s so important for humans to be able to track each others gaze. If you look at other animals, basically any other animal, they have the opposite, almost no white at all to make it very difficult to travk where they are looking.

It sounds very misleading. 1000Hz doesn't mean the eye tracking is particularly accurate. Many dirt cheap embedded sensors can run at 1000Hz, they are also often very noisy. I would suspect the accuracy and stability of the eye tracking will be the biggest compromise.

Eye tracking for 160 sounds great, but i agree, having to manually introduce thebfeature using an SDK is gonna heavily limit integration. Unless they do something cool and integrate directly into engines sondevs can just tick for support, but who knows.

I know because it's been talked about on KZbin...it's not "secret" Anyway, durability standards is a huge difference just on that point. Then, there WILL be proper eye-tracking added to the military version. Also, thermal cameras added. The regular cameras are to be higher resolution and better passthrough. There are to be 1 or 2 rear cameras. Battery is improved to handle the extra sensors/cameras. The user-interface will be specific to the military. Other info I don't recall.

It's supposed to be able to have every room in your home set up but I think it just bugs out sometimes the boundary moves out of place when I go into a room I haven't use my quest in for a while orher times i have to remake everything because it just didn't save

The Ink with base is more than double the price of a single controller. A bit too pricey. BUT I'll be looking for it to go on sale. I love making art so it'll make a big difference I think. I use prescription Q3 lenses from Zenni so I guess no eye tracking for me.

Augments are literally the only thing XR has going for it. They are failing at pushing XR. As of now it's still in the gimmick stage and offers little original experiences outside of the XR games realm. And most of them are off the same cheesy gimmick. It's not even good. (turn your room into a fish tank) (Turn your room into a cabin and shoot zombies) (turn your room into an alien planet and shoot aliens). It's dumb.

@SteveKnows Personally I think meta is doing a great job with this product. The passthrough was pretty bad at launch, and on v67 rn, after forcing an update through their official website, and SERIOUSLY it's near Vision Pro quality now. No warping, the graininess in my house is gone, ect. They're using software to back up their weaker hardware and I'm all for it, sure the resolution is a little low but I feel thats not the point of it. Plus this ability to move windows around now is incredible, and with augments windows will also be spatially anchored soon.

I use it for Gun ClubVR and a few others. They're not that bad. I just dislike the motion sickness. Gun Club actually helped me improve my shooting immensely so I 100% stand by it. It's certainly not perfect but it definitely works. Also theres a fewbother great applications but unfortunately I haven't been able to use my Quest 3 very much recently. I mostly use it for movies and web browsing now and Claude Sonnet 3.5 for coding purposes.

Last 5 years billions went into this facebook miniverse horizon worlds. But after 1,5 years of oculus rift s was enough to drop pcvr and oculus rift s store. When i read comments 90 % of quest 3 owners own a pc. Facebook dropped quality vr to soon and bet on standalone. Getting Kids in horizon worlds is their main goal because kids don't use facebook social anymore. It's so obvious. So parents protect your kids and give them a nintendo device. Facebook is just looking for ways to harvest data not to give you a gaming console!

I’m pretty pissed about it too. It’s a big deal to me and represented the first step in adding an overlay of personal interactive MR features to your home, ergo a quasi holographic layer that is native to the headset. Now I feel like Augments is essentially vaporware, meant to take some of the shine off the Apple Vision Pro through… well… a lie. When added to the “Legs” lie and their “high-fidelity metaverse” lie it shows a pattern of Meta announcing features that they don’t even have in Alpha, much less on the verge of shipping within 6 months of hardware release. Boz had already said a few weeks ago that Augments would be delayed until late this year, so I wonder if this newly made statement is just reinforcing that, or if it’s setting expectations that Augments won’t see the light of day until well into 2025, if at all.

With quest 1 release they promised assassin's creed and splintercell vr now today the quest isn't suported anymore(so quest2owners forget to play gta it will not happen esp for quest2) and quest owners could never play the games facebook promised them. Quest2 will be supported for years and in a half year already quest 3 games bahahaha i can go on and on about little white facebook lies. Buy products for what they are, not what they promise to be. Anything companies promise for the future should be considered bonuses instead of a main selling point. It sucks to hold off on purchases for this reason but it's the most powerful tool consumers have to tell them we don't want releases that we would consider incomplete.
