Stick around for a while and enjoy the day with me on our small farm. Big Red the Rhode Island Red rooster has been separated for a while now and it's time he rejoins his flock. We get some of the other chores done too during this incredible sunny day. #homestead #rooster #flock

She really is and the perfect size to be a parrot kitty and sit on my shoulders like my Stormy used to, I miss her a lot. I should have raised Bubbles as a house cat for a few months then she would have been attached to me, my mistake. Chewie’s stripes are so well defined and black like a tiger. His sister Tango has stripes but very faded.

@@HiddenSpringFarm they are beautiful kitties… Bubbles is really the kind of kitty more suited for the house… all that long fur… poor baby gonna have lots of cuckleburrs… and Chewy looks like he will be one heck of a mouser! He looks just like a kitty I once had named Tiger… we had about 3 dozen barn cats at one time when I was a kid and the matriarch of them all was a kitty named mittens and she looked a lot like your bubbles… she got tired of off the kitties and went up across the road and filled to my grandparents place,,, of course, she ended up populating my grandparents place too lol… I would bet that every single cat that lives within a one mile radius around our farm can trace its beginnings back to one cat, Mittens…

I had a big red one like that back when I was a teen .,, a LONG LONG LONG TIME ago l9l… I’m 51 now… that was the meanest rooster I ever had… he would attack anyone who get anywhere near his girls… to the point that collecting eggs became a life threatening ordeal… I have scars on my legs from that bloody bird! The last time he got me, it took 22 stitches to close the wounds!!! I ended up whacking him with a golf club…I’m thought I killed him… I just knocked him out… he never chased me again after that… the next roosters we had I made sure that I had them tamed to the point that they would come to me to be petted and scratched… I loved having chickens… i would like to have some today but since I live in town, I can’t have them… I want to move back out to the farm and hope to do so in the next year or two…

Well Chad you must have filmed this video last week because the weather this week is a miserable piss pot. What a temperature swing last Thursday at the airport 28 C today highest expected 11C. Poor Bubbles, must have been traumatized real bad. As for the hen plucking feathers, maybe time for roast chicken 🤣🤣🤣Well done 👍👍👍. Thank you for sharing. Be safe 🇨🇦

Oh yeah I always have a few episodes ahead and ready to go. They take forever to upload so for example I have 4 videos uploaded and ready to publish, but sometimes I gotta do work stuff and may not film for a week. But I also don’t want you watching snow videos in May cause I’m too far ahead, gotta find that perfect work/life/KZbin balance. Toques back on this week which you’ll see in a couple weeks 😂

The girls seem happy to at the farm, especially Olive!😄 They really are beautiful and sweet pups. The pigs looked happy to be outside today. I hope Big Red does well and that hen remembers that she's a hen, not a rooster, or you may need to give her a time out for a couple weeks to see if that gives her an attitude adjustment. Separating her for a couple weeks will reset the flock so Big Res is in charge again. Then reintroducing her back into the flock she will be the new member and should mind her Ps & Qs better. Oh yeah Olive especially loves all the space here, but they really are incredible dogs anyway. I’ve been watching Big Red’s tail ti see if I see any on the ground…so far so good but at least I have 2 empty coops right now if I need to separate. 😉

How do you guys get her so clean to face a new day without the dirt staining her?? I now have a craving for cantaloupe this morning and don’t have any . If that hen starts in with Big Red then kick her out because we want him happy and whole! Yay Spring 🌞

These dogs have magical hair that once the dirt dries it repels and flakes off. Bubbles is really a good looking kitty too though eh.

If you want to give your Hens and Roosters a treat consider either live worms as in fishing worms or grubs usually freeze dried.

I saw a bag of meal worms at the farm store the other day…it was $34.99 just for a small bag. I’m gonna try to free range them a bit this summer too so they can get some naturally. But that’s a bit expensive. Maybe I’ll figure out how to raise meal worms myself?

I'm jealous your pigs get cantaloupe and I don't.😢 Just kidding! I really enjoy your videos! I read somewhere that when a cat rubs his back end and tail on you it is affection, not dominance. When he rubs his whole body on you is when he's trying to show dominance. I think Chewy really likes you.

So far Big Red is fine with the flock, his tail looks good. Plus I have an upcoming use for the other coop 😉😉 Those kittens are the kids of Maggie May and when Maggie was young she took a very long time time to be social, Bubbles is just like her Mama.

I’ve been keeping an eye on him and so far he’s ok, I’m not seeing any tail feathers on the ground. They can be vicious just like the rabbits I guess.

sometimes I sell baby chicks or ducklings...even adult birds. Haven't started with the rabbits yet but I'm always looking to make a bit of cash to help pay for feed.

Your roaster looks like he has bubble foot, which can be very painful and should be removed. Look it up, just in case I 'm wrong.

I don’t think he does, bumblefoot has a distinct look to it. He’s almost 3 years old and just a bit rugged. 😊
