As a former SnapOn dealer, there is nothing better than dealing with a professional shop with a steady, professional crew. Everyone has jokes about tool dealers, but real professionals understand these guys are actually here to help you out. Sadly “professionalism “ is not the average in the automotive industry. I Figure I put my dealers kids through college or better yet I could’ve bought myself another house. Too bad I don’t wrench any longer. I just think how much money they Made me. For the people that are crying about how much they spent... you don’t spend 17k at the truck that day.. it’s paid weekly or bi weekly, it’s like a personal loan. You pay t off over time. There’s a guy at my shop now with 150k PLUS of tools and boxes, he pays 47$ a week.

jose puello indeed. That’s why they have “early pay off” amounts and not a lot of people actually pay the minimum amount each week. Most pay 2 or 3 times what the minimum is so they can pay that “loan” off quicker.
@claydice91
@claydice91 5 жыл бұрын
It’s a ripoff in my opinion. With interest and all you’re paying 3-4 times what that tool actually costs. It’s convenience that’s why us grease monkeys do it. Instead of having to spend 700$ for that impact we can pay 15$ a week for it.

And that d/a is nice I have the older model been using it for about 8 years never failed me the new ones are super nice though 🤤

Not when them cheap ones cost $10.00.. And they still break. I bought that blue point one 10 years ago. It still nice and stiff. The shaft doesn't come flying out. Then you have to supper glue it back in...And it does pickup 10lbs with that narrow head...
@_DC5DEE
@_DC5DEE 5 жыл бұрын
@@MasterChief-sl9ro Yeah I was thinking about how it could hold 10lbs, which is probably why it's worth it honestly. Can't go wrong just trying it out. Better a one-time purchase than to have to keep buying cheap ones
@MasterChief-sl9ro
@MasterChief-sl9ro 5 жыл бұрын
@@_DC5DEE I would add. The Blue Point one. That little shield around the magnet slides up. So you can use it to remove or install them Intake bolts. That are easy to take out or remove if you want to remove the Radiator. Not sure why Ford did that. As even a flex extension is a bitch to get in the hole with a socket. So I stick that bolt on the Magnet side. Use the socket to push it off into the hole. That way it does not fall off on you. Then you spend 5 mins fishing it out. Then trying again. But I do find them lower bolts missing. As someone that had the same issues. Just never installed them back in there. Then you get an intake leak. With lots of them codes. And they never know where the problem is.

Must pay your guys fair. A few years ago I tried going to a mom and pop shop for 18 wheelers and he said he would hire me but there isn't no hourly pay and that he only pays what he wants to pay and me starting out I would only make $190 a week and I declined and walked away. I currently make being industrial maintenance no farther than half a mile down the road and clear $1100 a week after insurance and taxes and thats with with no overtime

Are you a normal mechanic or heavy diesel plant tech. If diesel you need to move to Australia and go mining. My son 3rd yr apprentice 97k a year. It's nuts. Tradies are getting 185k. If on drill rigs even more.
