Penang is one of the street food capitals of Malaysia, with an unending amount of delicious foods to eat in Penang, we couldn’t wait to get going on another huge street food tour in this flavourful city.
We began our huge Malaysian street food tour of Penang with a traditional Indian-Malaysian breakfast of roti canai, this time full of cheese and eggs, an epic way to start the day. There are some amazing street foods in Penang, so we continued on and tasted the famous teh halia, fresh ginger tea.
George Town, Penang is a very historical city, known for things other than its popular street food. We spent the afternoon at the Clan Jetties, exploring while eating some unique Malaysian foods.
The best Penang street food is found off the beaten path, we continued our huge street food tour in Penang, Malaysia, trying rojak and bee hoon vermicelli. This fruit rojak was very different from the rojak we have had before. Full of fruits and a nutty shrimp paste, this fruit rojak is a popular street food in Penang. After the rojak, we tasted bee hoon vermicelli from a local hawker. The bee hoon vermicelli noodle is wokked up and served with loh bak and spring rolls, our kind of bee hoon vermicelli noodle!
The amount of delicious street food in Penang is endless, and today we had an awesome day eating some of the best and most popular Penang foods. Kuey teow noodles (flat rice noodles) are my fave for sure, my dad loves yellow noodles, my mom loves vermicelli... but all noodles are great tbh! You have done it again with another great video! So many rare spots and great food! Love that you don't only go to the spots every youtuber goes to!

Fiery 🌶🌶🌶 paste too definitely Roti Canai with sunny Side up eggs + cheese A new trend in Malaysia 🇲🇾 now Worth e try it's like East meet West culinary cuisine in one plate Hope u Guys had a delightful time in Penang Can't deny it's a Food Heaven though Safe Travels C ya on your next video content Mate CHEERS

The vermicelli stall has been there for ages. Great noodles. You should have tried the yellow egg noodle. Equally good.

It's a very interesting area, you're right! So much history and sights to see, George Town is a lovely city, and the food!! Delish. We wish that was our breakfast everyday as well🤣

Like the way they torched the eggs/cheese of the Roti Canai. It's the owner of Teh Halia suggested hot to get its full flavor of fresh ginger. I think I have loh bak in one of Singaporean cuisines, and prawn fritter in one of Filipino street foods. If I get a chance to visit Penang Jetty food court, I would like to try their style of chee cheong fun in comparison of cantonese style. The shrimp paste suppose to be salty, but they have that thicken sweet soy sauce to balance it along with sesame oil. Rojak is one of their top fruit salads. First time I saw Hokkien Mee in broth because I usually had it cooked and tossed in the wok stirred fried. Bee Hoon Vermicelli would be more flavorful if he add some eggs and other proteins, and the peanut soup is a typical Taiwanese dessert.

Actually chee cheong fun in plain rolls like this can be found all over Malaysia and Singapore. In Hong Kong they have sesame/peanut paste added. Just that they called it cheong fun without the chee (or "pig"). Always mix the sauces in most of the asian food. Some would even unwrap the rice rolls to coat more of the sauces. Same as noodles, mix before eating. It's essentially still a Cantonese dish just in different forms and different sauces. Stuffed ones are usually a dim sum item. You can request for a mix of yellow egg noodles and rice vermicelli and flat rice noodles, or just one of them for most of the noodle dishes.

@@soulman3790 when I said unroll is we unroll it ourselves using the fork or chopsticks after being served not a special request to the vendors to do it lol. It depends..on the texture vs coating the sauces...😃 I've eaten them both ways

I went to chowrasta for the teh halia almost every day. even now I'm having the halia watching the video but I usually buy from the stall at another end. for Chee cheong fun the locals will stir the whole plate before eat. some people like me will ask the seller to unwrap the noodles. also sometimes I eat my CCF only with soy sauce and sesame seeds.

Yes it's pronounced as roti canai not kenai...btw we don't say curry sauce. It's just curry not sauce... I'm surprised you guys been here long...but still didn't get the pronunciation right 😆

It's good to drink ginger tea when you catch a cold. But if your body is "heaty" (热气), better not to drink it. Btw, do you guys know that the so call hokkien noodles is 2 different version between Penang and KL? It's like what you eat in this video, but in KL, they call it prawn noodles (虾面). Whereas, in KL, hokkien noodles look chocolate/brown colour (with sweet soy sauce that makes it look like that), totally different dishes. In Penang they call this type of noodles "dai lok min"(in Cantonese, Chinese writing is 大碌面)

Yes you are right! There are two very different versions of Hokkien noodles, with the KL version being Hokkien char. We had a chance to try them in Kuala Lumpur and loved them as well!! We can't get enough of all the noodles🤤😋

Guys! The roti canai is pronounced "cha-nai". When you encounter Malay spelling, "C" is pronounced "Ch".
