Huge Swap Meet! - TOTAL BUST! Cruising The Coast FAIL

The first official day of Cruising The Coast is here! Up untill now everything had been local shows, meets and events. What's the first stop we make? The swap meet!
I had really high hopes for a big parking lot full of junk. Buying some one else's cast off parts is my favorite! Well, that just wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong, there was alot of stuff.... just nothing for me. Rows and rows of vendors/sponsors, I was just looking for the guy selling used parts out of his pick up truck.
The day wasn't a total bust we ended up cruising around and meeting a bunch of cool people.

If you ever get a chance to come to Texas try to schedule it around the Pate swap meet it's a real big swap meet on a concrete parking lot so it's rain or shine also right up the road is an old car wrecking yard and it's all your kind of people

Doug here........DD Speed Shop fan........I was at CTC and looked and looked and looked for you guys. Wanted some merch! Checked your FB page as you instructed and it hadn't been updated in 20+hours sooooo, I missed meeting up with you guys. Maybe next year! And yes, I was disappointed in that "swap meet" as well. That was an outdoor store. No swap meet like what we had at Super Chevy with all the used/vintage/hard to find parts.

Ya'll are my number one favorite folks to watch on you tube I like style of cars ya'll build , I have a car related bucket list that I wish to accomplish [Power Tour , Cruising the Coast , Mopar's at Carlisle , Pigeon Forge] since I retired a few years ago and ya'll and a few other You Tubers are building my confidence and urge to get the car [1966 Barracuda] up to par to be able to make the trips . I'm an all around car lover but I prefer to own Mopar's [not a purest tho] I would have a hard time not buying that 3 window coupe but like ya'll my junk ain't no trailer queen !! Keep up the good work ya'll !!

Having done both the Power Tour and Cruisin the Coast, I am probably leaning towards CTC. We arrived Sunday evening and left the following Sunday morning. You can't see every show that is going on. It is nice after running all day we would get our lawn chairs and cooler out and just watch the cruising with a bunch of other car people. It is more like a vacation, where PT is definitely go go go. Both should be bucket list items for car people.

Yes I got all the date coded power steering parts for my car there. It did take a few times before I found everything. It's mainly Chevy and Ford.

Hey Dan & DD Welcome to the coast. I'm from Michigan and come down for this event every year for 20 some years . Great time great people. Been looking for you as I cruise around getting my card stamped. Tonight { Friday } went out to Gulfport Dragway to watch the South East Gassers. They had about 60 cars , all 1967 and older . Put on a great show. They'll be there Saturday racing starting about 1 o'clock. Maybe you could come out. Hope too see you there.

That’s more a vendor style market ! You need to hit up some of the other type carshows in the south ! I like the type like you are talking about selling old parts and cars from regular folks! But it’s glad to know y’all are enjoying the CRUISE PART OF IT ! I have heard that Hershey Pennsylvania has a more regular people swap meet about this same time of year! Hear it can take DAYS to see it !

I tell you what, I'm put off by the huge monthly swap meets. My last swap meet purchase was a set of chromed stamped valve covers for my SBF for 12 dollars. Whata deal right! Get home mock them up and the Winged V8 logo was stamped upsidedown :( Shame on me for thinking I got myself a deal. I'm really sad the Canadian government really socks it to you for your parts... makes me sad. Thank you for the video I appreciate you.

Alot of vendors set up at the bigger swap meets for sure, but still plenty of guys selling out of the back of pick up trucks. Carlisle is a nice mix, same with Hershey. Still plenty of home grown meets for locals too.

That Swap Meet has never really been occupied by people selling old stuff , it's been VENDER's . Shows with driver vehicles that people don't have the room to haul stuff have it shipped and the stuff can be on your doorstep when you get home . Just like the street rod nationals where theres UPS trucks on-site dropping off packages and picking up packages constantly . MOVE TO AMERICA . Awesome video .

you know dan and dani when i was younger in the early 2000's i used to go to a lot of gun and knife shows and flea markets but i stopped when i started seeing a lot of dealer/ vendors selling over priced stuff out of china that swap meet seems to be about the same way more vendors than anything else dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with vendors but when they are so numerous they force prices up it just ruins it i dropped out of the gun and knife show scene around 08 or 09 but it never fails every time one comes i always hear somebody all hyped up about it but then the following monday theyre always sayimg how they didnt buy anything because it was all so overpriced also it never fails someone always asks me if i want to go and i always say no

I've always been disappointed by CTC's 'swap meet'. It's a vendor fair, not a swap meet. I've been to Moultrie, GA and Conroe, TX swap meets and those blow it way.

You guys had the best looking car there. Looks like almost all of them were lowered with 30" ghetto reehuums on them. Really sad what car culture has become. I've owned a lot of cars, and built quite a few cars. Never had wheels larger then 15", with real tires. I like gassers and '70s style muscle cars/hot rods, which are pretty much the opposite of gassers. They are much higher in the back than the front, with big wide tires that stick out past the fenders, and smaller front wheels and tires. I believe Uncle Tony calls them "street freaks"
