I did the same thing - I cleaned out SO many toys including huge items, and they never said anything about the missing items. I only heard, "WOW Mom, look at all this SPACE to play!!" It was amazing.

You did a great job!❤ You shouldnt waste your time color coding legos. When theres too many steps for kids they start losing interest in playing. Dump them all in a bin and slide it under the bed then they can pull it out and slide it wo wherever theyll play. Legos are heavy especially when you keep adding to it. We got a black mixing tub from Lowes and its perfect for sliding around the house they dont have to lift the heavy box and the way the bin is designed makes it just smooth as butter on the floor. ❤ Also, having to look for the pieces entertains them longer. The only ones we keep separate are my 14yo's lego sets which she displays or keeps in bags in her room.

I did that a lot as my kids grew up. It worked.

When my children were littles, I put a mark on the main puzzle board and then the same mark on each of the pieces that went with that particular puzzle. I used X, O, A, circles, squares, etc. Hope this helps!

@@AnnaBruceblog - you're most welcome! I wish I could say that I thought of it (I'm 68) BUT it was my mom (who grew up during the Depression) was the one that came up with it. Saved us from throwing away a lot of puzzles. AND it was easier for my eleven year old self to pick up my two year old brother's puzzle messes! HA! Having seven of my own, it helped me a ton, too!

Yes that's the best tip I could have given. We also put each puzzle pieces in its own little bag. Which helps a ton.

For starters, you were super real in this with all of your kids, toys, and the amount that you have… I am right there with you and getting ready to tackle this, so this was the exact encouragement that I needed! But also, that your facial expressions and comments throughout the entire video were so on point, real and hilarious, because I think all of us mamas that struggle with this exact thing, including the guilt of getting rid of toys, and our children being upset with us. I decluttered my whole house about 3 years ago and now I am in the management phase. I just watch what comes into the house and continue to be ruthless about what we keep. I’ll never let the stuff pile up again! We accumulated lots of stuff early in marriage because we had so little money we were always scared we wouldn’t have enough. It’s so freeing to trust the Lord to provide and not fearfully clutch our possessions.

We did this same thing this year but I put magnatiles and Legos in bins in the closet ( because they are super messy). The kids have to clean up a bin before they can get another out. It's been amazing and I'm not stressed about toys anymore
