Very nice video, Men....Thank you so much for a very down to earth approach to drag racing. Personally, I am an old retired NHRA drag racer with most of my experience with a 426 HEMI Torqueflite and a 427 / 425 Turbo 400 Biscayne. I am talking 1969-1972. Nothing but fun. Many moons ago, (1980) my neighbor got his first car 69 Caprice triple black 427 buckets/console GM exec car. He brought it over for a tune up, so I give it a performance tune and out to Woodward ave. for a real test. I start with the well known upgrade of air filter lid flip,turned out to be a very strong running car. I gave a few others a good spanking to think about. I tried everything to buy the car from him,he drove it away to college and never saw it again.

If you're running anything other than solid engine mounts that BBC is just twisting the snot out of the stock column shifter linkage. And that's why you're having shift issues. And yes a floor mount shifter will correct the issue plus it's more accurate and fun to bang gears with one and it looks Kool!!!!! But you should still run solids!........ Love the Crusher Imp! Cheers.

I just love the rat rods, they make the greatest/coolest drag cars of all. Even when the 4-door is used for a rat rod dragger they look so bad to the bone. Save the pretty shiny 2-doors for the trailers and car shows.

11:20s at 119 is better than I thought y'all would throw down on this episode. That's running pretty strong. I imagine the car weighs 4100 with driver? Years ago we jumped an old 67 Ford pickup with no bed over railroad tracks and tossed the battery in the fan. It looked like manatee's in Florida being cut up by a boat prop.
@hackjobgarage92892 жыл бұрын
If that's a TH-400 transmission in that (I'm sure it is) I would pull out the "vacuum modulator" valve, and clean it up. Either that or your "governor valve" is sticking. Either one of those will prevent a TH-400 from shifting.

I like the zip tie tip. I was wondering if running 2 or 3 zip ties around the axel tube in between it and the brake line might prevent a future leak from the brake line rubbing on the axel tube. Just thinking. But then again, the next time we see this car it will be totally taken apart again. 😆

Chevelle 396. Cruising down the road, I hit the gas. 3 seconds later, explosion and smoke but the engine ran fine. The factory battery hold down let the battery tip over. the positive post laid on the valve cover and burned a hole and the spark ignited the oil fumes. Both valve cover gaskets blew out and the oil ran over the exhaust manifolds. Now I always use a safety strap.

Love the car! However, using plastic zip ties on brake lines is so rookie. Even Horror Freight sells metal zip ties. They won't deteriorate from exposure, melt and fail. Put a bit of paint on the metal ties and they are a rugged solution. Proper brackets are the best way.
