And meeeee! I’m planning decluttering the Christmas decorations when I get them out, instead of putting the unused ones back in the box, as I usually do, they will be heading to the charity shop at the start of December, I’m told thsts when charity shops really welcome them x

I find that by keeping my clothes to a bare minimum helps. I dont have a seasonal wardrobe I just layer up so I never pack away stuff. I appreciate not having too many choices as I found when I had lots of choices my clothes got messy as I rooted through to find the perfect outfit. Now I know everything fits and I like wearing it. Nobody has ever said to me wow you wear the same things alot. I am currently knitting snuggly items for my wardrobe next year to replace worn out ones hopefully they will fit 🤪

I love decluttering, but now know the first time feels good, but then I have to go back a second and even third time before I’m really where I want to be. Decluttering has really made me more mindful about what I buy, my golden rule is if it’s not a wow, it’s a no. I’ve no room for okay things anymore. Lots of luck, it’s a marathon but really worthwhile and satisfying. Take care, you’re looking really well xx

Hi Kay. I have done a big de-clutter last week, 3/4 of my clothes are gone, sold or donated. Now I just have my best items that I love, and don't feel overwhelmed when I open the cupboard door. It feels so liberating. I will be doing a whole house de-clutter, one step at a time.

Our house was built in the 1930s so we know your damp problems for sure! We found getting new windows and a positive air ventilation system made the biggest difference! We used to have so much damp and windows dripping in condensation till we did those two things and it hasn't been a problem for us ever since. The dehumidifier didn't really cut it in our house!

Well done Kay👏 it always feels good to have a declutter and really helps our mental health😊 Just a wee suggestion… is it possible to move the chest of drawers to where your vanity table is? That would create more space and airflow within your closet and you have a full length mirror that could be used instead to get ready, dry hair etc. The space may not be big enough to accommodate but thought I would mention ❤

Do you have any space under your bed? If so, perhaps a project could be putting together some sort of custom storage type thing to put shoes and anything else you don't want to throw out but don't want cluttering the wardrobe?

Thanks Kay, a decluttering video is always inspiring. I’ll look forward to seeing more of your decluttering series. I’ve been on a whole house and life decluttering mission for the past few months, I’ve done a lot but still a lot to do. You could try candle wax on your drawers - just rub a candle over the runners and the grooves they fit into, and anywhere else the drawer sticks. Hopefully might help! 😊

I am so glad you are removing some of the oversized clothes. Oversized clothes add what they call visual weight. You have worked so hard, no need to hide your successes. And you can find very comfortable clothes which skim your new found shape instead of hiding it. Remember, don’t settle! Be the person you want to be!!❤

That was me, I made the watermark comment from this account and my other account (a few times because I wasn’t sure that you had seen my comment). I am so glad that you addressed it. I was just worried for you guys and your health. We had the same exact thing happen years ago and it ended up creating MAJOR health problems for us, our kids and our animals. Thank you for mentioning that you are taking care of it and also because it might help some of your viewers to realize that it needs to be addressed and taken seriously.

Just to say lovely make sure you wear a mask when removing mould as the spores can become airborne and you don’t want to breathe them in (can cause chest infections!). I will join you in your decluttering journey as I seem to have accumulated a lot of stuff. Clothes are a good place to start I think.

I was renting a place that had thick cold walls, high ceilings and whenever somebody was cooking, the hot air would hit the cold walls and create humidity…opening the windows regularly was a must to get the humidity out, a dehumidifier helped in the bathroom and in weird spots, I put old decor glasses filled with salt and that was a game changer for me. Never had issues again but it is definitely something that needs constant care. hope you will be able to fix it 😊

I recently saw in a video that it was only 10 weeks until the end of 2022. The youtuber questioned what we wanted to do to finish the year off strong. I’ve been weighed down by our stuff in the last couple of months so I embarked on a 10 week (10 rooms) decluttering challenge. It’s been going so well and I feel so much better!

Oh gosh, we absolutely need to declutter. Perhaps this summer holiday season will be when we finally find some time haha. I love that all your coat hangers match 😍 For your wardrobe, perhaps a sensor light would help! I find everything easier to manage when there’s a light and good visibility. You can get battery powered light options - even some with switches - relatively cheaply on Amazon! And maybe a taller, thinner dresser would help?

I've literally just done the same. I narrowed my wardrobe down to the colors I love, which are neutrals. The style I love, which is classy but comfortable. And the frequency in which I've worn item If I haven't reached for it, I decluttered it. This system made it super simple to pare down my wardrobe. I now only have a few pairs of leggings, 1 pair of jeans 1 dress, 1 skirt, 4 sweaters, 4 tanks, 4 blouses 4 cardigans to wear over tanks, 1 jacket, 1 coat. Life is so easy now. No sifting and rummaging through hundreds of pieces I don't wear, to find the one piece I do wear. I donated 10 bags of clothing I feel like that dresser in your closet is overwhelming. I put my socks, undies, bras etc in wicker baskets and put them on the shelf in my closet in order to eliminate a dresser. My home and rooms are small too. I decluttered those items as well. My drawers were overflowing.

Found the tips you gave about tackling damp and mould really helpful - thank you. My husband and I have just moved into a flat that has a mould/damp probably - unfortunately we can’t do anything about the root cause as it’s a rented place (😖) If you could talk more in a future video about how you tackle it and what products you use (mould spray, damp bag, dehumidifier etc.) I would find that soooo helpful … I know it might be a bit of a niche request, but maybe not here in soggy old England! 😂 Thank you again for talking about and keeping it real as always x

thank you for an inspiring post again ! about mold...it ruined my health living in a 1913 house we found out mold/humidity was my main allergen (therefore I feel for you ! especially in a bedroom where you spend at least 8 hours a day) and I had to leave the house (my immune system is still not back to healthy) there is a special paint by Rubson that provides a kind of screen between the wall and your usual paint. Also your outside wall could be anti-humidity treated (but more expensive and harder to do it yourselves) to be less vulnerable to humidity. Cleaning meanwhile can be with vinegar.

Lovely, I just have been decluttering my wardrobe as well. Maybe you would have more space with low shelves on both sides of the wall instead of chest of drawers in the middle? Just thinking as that way you could step into the wardrobe to grab things. But you know better how much benefit would that be in reality hahah. Good luck

An inspiration for me. I need to tackle mine again. Last year I gave quite a bit to goodwill, but I need to do more. Fun fact, as you age you get shorter. It has changed my shape. Some things do not fit me because of that. So some things need to go for that reason. And my goal is to only buy one more sweater for work. Like you said, I have to examine each piece. ❤

A great inspiring video. I actually liked your giveaway pile!! I brought some of my clothing habits from the U.K. to the US! I’m used to layering due to the very unpredictable British weather. So here in New Jersey the weather is somewhat similar but hotter summers! I don’t really have a seasonal wardrobe as I like to wear my chunky sweaters/cardigans over my summer skirts and dresses with thicker leggings and tall/ankle boots. I’m not keen on the “lumberjack” style of clothing so I don’t have flannel shirts/jeans. Less is definitely more..love to see more decluttering videos. Thankyou and God bless

Just to help don’t seal the house let it breathe. I live in an old cottage about 600 years old and it doesn’t need a damp course. My neighbour made a big mistake by having a damp course done and it sealed the moisture in ie trapping the damp the building needs to breathe.

You could put some (or make some bespoke) modular storage for the bottom of your wardrobe instead of the chest of drawers; you will fit more in but also see what you've got there more easily.

Good job. You should not hang your sweaters. Thats why they lose their shape. If they fit, you should measure for IKEA PAX wardrobes and eliminate the chest in your closet. Wire baskets take the place of the drawers. I Marie Kondo fold pants, shorts, t-shirts, active and loungewear in those pull-out wire baskets.

Move the little dresser drawer (if that’s what it’s called lol) to one side of the closet and above it just keep the shorter blouses or sweaters and have everything else that is longer on the other side and have the rest underneath for shoes and so forth and in the middle have some thing for you to put your handbags or if you have above shelving.
