There was a program on BBC a while back in the UK about testing highstreet stores products. Faux fur related products were tested one day and nearly all of them contained real fur even when it was stated it was not real or contained any fur. Due to the testing, all the products were recalled! Was pretty terrible. I know when something is real fur or certain materials when I touch it, because I immediately have a skin reaction. I tried on a coat one day and had a reaction as soon as i tried it on. I was shocked that it ended up being one of the products in the programme to be recalled.

Hey Alex, I have come across the faux fur / real fur problem when ordering online, some places are often not clear about what type of fur they have used. If you have a fur product and want an easy way to verify if it is fake fur or real, use a lighter and very gently burn a strand of two of the fur. If it's real it'll burn and have that typical burning hair smell we've all sniffed when getting to close to a pot on the stove, faux fur is more likely to melt instead of burning. Granted this does not help when buying the product in the first place, but if you've purchased something in the past and are now worried it may be real fur this is a way to check.

If you're not comfortable burning the item or don't have a lighter or whatever, twist a few strands together between 2 fingers - real fur will unwind easily where as fake fur is more likely to tangle

Hey Alex! You can check for faux or real fur by separating the hairs and looking at the undermaterial. If it looks like fabric that the hairs are sewn in, it’s fake, if it is completely solid it might be real fur. To 100% verify you can also peel of the layer off of the phone case and check if it’s leather. Even fake fur can be insanely soft in today’s day and age.

welp, the only thing left to do is to use the living shit out of the rabbit fur phone case so the poor baby didn't die in vain. Usually my rules for fur and such is I don't mind wearing provided there is proof available that the fur in question died of natural causes. i often make a lot of stuff involving fur, and very rarely buy from the same place more than twice due to price or quality. if the fur is ethically sourced and the animal it came from died from naturalish causes (whether a freak accident or from health reasons) then i think that's morally okay to use the fur so long as all parts of the animal is used too and not just the fur, for example, sheep, if a sheep dies from old age, the wool is still collected and then the animal is quartered and used for other things. if its stuff like that i don't mind using some fur's if its not that type of case i cant use it my brain won't allow me to.

I'm also fine with fur from wild game or humanely raised animals that were killed (as humanely as possible) for food, because I truly believe if you're going to use part of an animal, you should use as much of it as possible. What I have a problem with is fur farms. Animals raised specifically for their pelts.

I just want to say that real fur is biodegradable and lasts a long time, but faux fur is plastic, gets thrown in the trash after a year or two, and the fibers get in the water when washed -- this bad for the fish and your drinking water, and probably worse for the environment and animals than real fur. Faux fur isn't a good answer if you want to wear fur without hurting animals. That said, real fur from China probably isn't great either. I'd avoid any kind of furry thing if you care about the environment and animals?

Saff Most animals raised for fur aren't given the greatest living conditions, and only very rarely used for meat. (As opposed to cows raised for leather; they still aren't treated the best, but after being skinned, many companies then butcher the meat. It's not exactly win-win, but it is less wasteful.) Fur isn't an ethical decision unless you yourself butcher the animal, skin it, and cook the meat. Otherwise, thousands of pounds of meat go to waste and the animal has given its life for very little use.

Fun fact, the google pixel 2 lx works with the same size case as the iphone 6,7,8 plus. Camera is in the same place, I don't use the back finger print thing so I don't case about it being covered. Tested with the Recover line of cases

Actually, if you look at the listing for that "Rabbit Fur" phone case, and click on Description: Material:Imitation Rex Rabbit Hair + TPU bottom case. GRANTED, that does NOT at all ensure that this is in fact faux fur, but they did list it as such, and probably only put "Rabbit Fur" in the title/name for keyword search results. You'll also find items listed like this with multiple animals listed at the same time, such as rabbit, fox, mink, etc. I'm highly doubtful that this item is actually made of REAL rabbit fur, personally, but it is always a good idea to second-guess yourself on whether or not something is made of real fur. I commend you for mentioning it, even though you learned that it might be real fur! It's always important to own up to mistakes you may have made, otherwise you can't learn from them. But that phone case is legitimately listed as IMITATION rex rabbit hair, and thus is likely just a faux fur plush fabric.

Sometimes things even listed as faux fur is actually mislabelled real fur. :( It usually comes from animals such as marmots, rabbits, and raccoon dogs. Companies don’t always have the right safeguards in place to keep real fur out of their supply chains. A lot of big brands in the UK and across other countries have been found to be selling real fur when they assumed it was fake. The best thing to do is not buy anything furry at all, unfortunately.

Taylor T I didn’t say it was her fault. It’s the companies who don’t have the safeguards in place to prevent real fur from being sold as fake. Making an informed choice as a consumer is always a great thing. If she wants to purchase faux fur then obviously it’s her choice.

this has like no relation to the video as I havent watched it all yet, but the advert just before it started was about kids saying what they wanted to be when they grow up. One kid was like "a paramedic" another was like "an astronaut" and then there was this one girl who was like "I want to be a mermaid so I can have a pet narwall" LITERALLY SAME, LIKE OK ME. just thought id share...ill go back to watching the video now which im sure is fabulous :p

No animal fur is ok in my opinion but knowing the disgusting circumstances of extreme cruelty that the dogs especially endure in China just makes it ten times worse, it’s sickening. Great video!!! For people who don't have Iphones, I was able to get a really cute silicon cat phone case for my Samsung Galaxy J3 off of Alliexpress. So, it is possible, it just takes a bit more specific searching. I don't know about for the more obscure phones, though.

If you like flip phone cases you really don't need an Iphone to use a lot of those cute phone cases, just a little luck and a bit of diy. Look through the dimensions of the popular Iphones until you find one that matches your no name phone. Then go ahead and order some clear squishy cases that were made for your phone (so all the buttons stay pressable!) Now the fun part, go shopping for flip cases for the Iphone you matched earlier! When the cases arrive simply remove the squishy case from inside the flip case and swap it for the one that fits your phone, a bit of glue and tadaa! New super cute phone case that fits your no name china phone perfectly! Edit: Forgot to say: Awesome video! I love you Archie!

I'm a phone case hoarder, so Wish is either a blessing or a curse for me depending on who you ask. I have bought SO many cases from Wish, and as a matter of fact I just ordered another one a few days ago. I have been pleasantly surprised with them so far, and use them frequently. Definitely a good place to order cases from if you don't mind the wait and are on a budget.
