Jim Lad is correct, looks like asbestos tile siding. That was mighty nice of you to help that family.

The dish soap definitely helps. Sometimes I just duct tape the vacuum hose end to the wall and go have lunch. It's frustrating when home owners try all different stuff, then call you after they make the situation much worse. 😆

I'm totally going to try the duct tape next time. My arm muscles would thank me lol!

I was waiting for you to feed the nest to your chickens, lots of protein for your chickens!

Yes, they love it. I would have added it but I didn't think anyone would want to see it lol

Good video and a Big Thank You for helping that family. I really dont like yellow jackets and hornets especially this time of year!
@sweetbeefarms3 жыл бұрын
I was happy to help them. Their populations increase this time of year and they start being a little more noticeable. They also mess with my bees, which I don't like. I swear they sit and wait for me to open a hive. It makes the inspections harder because it gets the bees fired up.

That looks like asbestos tiles. If it is and they do choose to redo the siding, they may have to consider installing over top of the tiles. Removal is really expensive. Nice video. You're a brave soul.

Thank you! I will pass that info on to them. I will take these yellow jackets over bald faced hornets any day!

I really enjoyed this Nikki. It's always nice when you post videos of any content. What we call yellow jackets just make small nests under the roof or something. That was huge. The white capped cells are queens? I think I heard that somewhere. Thanks for sharing this Nikki
@sweetbeefarms3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Jeff! This was a pretty big nest. I alway find the smaller ones by my house but I can usually get them before the nest gets bigger. The queen cells are the larger cells. It's really hard to get the size comparison on camera. Overall, these make more queens than honeybees. The queens are the only ones who survive the winter so more queens increases their chance of survival.

@@sweetbeefarms it's a shame that honeybees dnt grow that many queens! 🐝 Thanks again for sharing this. I enjoyed it. I hope you have a great evening!

Great video, Thanks for sharing. I've been killing yellow jacket nests for years and recently found the most effective way to eliminate them all is Tempo Dust - 1%.
@sweetbeefarms3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Tempo dust works really well too.
@jcraigshelton2 жыл бұрын
@Billy Mac yep, Tempo is a good one. I think Drione is faster but it is twice the $$.

This is one example of why, if you do honeybee removals and you arrive to find yellow jackets (and as she says, you will from time to time), it’s good to have a pest control applicators license. Yellow jackets are easily eradicated by dusting them with certain silica gel products like Drione or Tempo. But to apply these professionally, you have to have the license. Much easier and less time consuming.
@sweetbeefarms2 жыл бұрын
That's a good point and it is an easier way to eradicate them. If I was beekeeping professionally I probably would do that. I don't remove many though.

No kidding, I get calls about “bees “ al the time… lol
@sweetbeefarms3 жыл бұрын
I get it all the time. It's another reason I don't care for content creators who don't wear protective equipment and channels really emphasize how gentle bees are. Most people, beyond beekeepers, don't really know what bees are and, as a result, don't take appropriate precautions around yellowjackets and such.

Nasty bugs. . Yellow Jackets are one flying bug i dislike.
@sweetbeefarms3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't mind them as much but this time of year they are always messing with my bees.
