I think it's a step in the right direction Stephen, we are currently on holiday in Lytham and as you know there's plenty of trees here which make the town even more beautiful, where I live we have lots of trees in front of our house and find them very calming but really glad for Blackpool and to you Stephen as you often comment on a lack of trees, another great video ❤️👍

When I first started coming to Blackpool with Gary in 2020 I noticed there weren't many trees/greenery/flowers, etc, in Blackpool, so I'm glad to see some new ones. The prom definitely needs something, like fixed flowers in containers on railings/hanging baskets, etc. They have them in other towns.

Hi Stephen. The council have over the past few years cut all the trees down behind my house. Double edged sword really, no more problems with leaves blocking my gutters, a lot less work in the autumn and of course it's great for astronomy as there is far more of the sky visible. The downside is I no longer get any birds visiting the garden except the odd robin, blackbird and Magpie. We used to get squirrels as well. There are still plenty of trees in the village though.

you might correct me in saying this. Chopping all the trees down around here. Either down to safety concerns with the fear of property damage or being sued if anyone gets injured (someone was killed in a wind storm in town from a falling tree), complaints about leaves on the streets in autumn, light levels or otherwise. There's no love for trees in residential areas any more and this town is slowly becoming like Blackpool in terms of streets (without the investment). At least the tree fellers are making a fortune.

This money is great news, and the council says they'll use it to plant in priority areas. So basically, I'd assume the central area. But if they're smart they might use most of it for that, where a lot of the time it will require a road reconfiguration and or root work, which is why some cost a lot. But greenery is needed in those areas. If theyre smart, they'll also use some for other areas where no work is required and its basically very quick wins straight into grass verges etc. This should enable a few hundred mature trees to be planted in the central areas and some in others, excluding revoe and central drive maybe as they already have plans for regeneration there with the 90 million pound housing 15 year project. It'll be interesting to see how they use this and it could help transform the main corridors in the central areas making a huge difference to how it looks and feels. Imagine 200+ mature trees on main routes or even lesser roads, 5-10 on each road on average maybe, that can cover a lot of visual area. Got to use mature trees though like are being planted at the new dwp building, they look fantastic are are big, have an impact straight away, and they can't really be robbed or even damaged easily.

Trees are probably not native to the Fylde coast, from Liverpool to Southport and beyond, it has always been a dune laden coastal place, and the winds and weather sort of suggest that. Liverpool was probably once all dunes around it's basins. So it doesn't surprise that forests and the like were not there to be removed in the first place where there are now towns and cities. It must have looked amazing before all those places were built upon, much like the Dutch coast used to be. Who knows? So trees might not thrive there at all.

To be fair, moving a full grown tree from nursery to final location is quite a significant undertaking, both in terms of logistics, heavy machinery, and manpower. I can understand why its not cheap, however I do think that projects like that are really just priced to move taxpayer money into the bank accounts of council/government friends.

Trees are the best environment for areas. However, some of the streets in Blackpool are not suitable for them, due to high-density housing and narrow streets. Yet Blackpool has some very Grand Avenues devoid of Trees.

Tree's are complicated in towns with things you can't see below, cables, pipes roots and above light, Let's hope the person in charge of this fund is tight and would argue over a penny and not someone who does the buying on the golf course, Can't understand why the department in charge of parks don't bring some tree's on themselves as there's plenty to play with and you defiantly need more evergreens. 5⭐🚶
