The Bright Lights of Highfield Road Blackpool

Love these video's. Blackpool has been my favourites seaside town for more than 60 years, had so many long and short breaks there, hotels , b and b's, camp and caravan sites both good bad and sometimes downright awful, but always returned. There is so much to see and do all along that coast and inland. Anyone going to Blackpool dont just stay on the front or in the town, go exploring. Theres so much history and the surrounding countryside throws up so many surprises.

You're spoiling me, Stephen! Like you, i was born in St. Annes, but I was brought up on Highfield Road (across from the field). Your walk up Highfield Road took me back, making me think of all the shops that used to be there, and enjoying the ones that still are. Great to see the Paramount Chinese is still going! I think the original name of Highfield Road was Milker's Gate Lane - a little nod to the part that runs into the Moss. I always enjoy a mooch around Highfield Road and the park when I visit. A bit gutted about the Library, as i spent hours there. Thank you so much, Stephen. You've made my day!

👋Thank you for another great video informative your material. . Trying. to keep up with everything I'm s dealing with illness recovering... How to say now actually I was diagnosed with cancer in the summer in May of this year and I'm tremendously improved Anna remission now.. appreciate following along entertaining I see you put a lot of efforts in your work Steve! I told I was all black and full of cancer endometriosi carcinoma in the lining but it didn't spread where I'm terminal I got it contained and treated effectively... it's female A strong mind and a positive attitude and don't fear cancer is how you beat the cancer...😅

A very Good and Peaceful Evening to You Stephen. I really Hope your Foot is starting to Recover and you are begining to get your Strength back into your Foot. I really liked your Mooch around the Streets at night. What a Great video you Filmed Stephen. Good Quality Camera Equipment and a Good Quality Microphone you were using. It is a Sign of the times, with all of the Vaping Shops and Turkish Barbers. I am a Non Smoker and i am really Glad i stopped Smoking over 30+ years ago. It was down to Peer Pressure at a Party i went to, how i first began Smoking. I would most Never ever Start Smoking again. Why do i want to Endanger my Health and Body?? Thank you Stephen. I can remember my First and second holidays in Blackpool, I was around (I believe) four years old on the first one. I remember going on a boat trip, we where carried out to the boat on what I later found out was a bren gun carrier, I thought it was a Tank! Second holiday was at Squires gate holiday camp late 1950's what I did not know was my father had Leukemia sadly he died two years later. The holiday was free via a charity. It was good Squires gate airport next door! Thing was we had to wear Sun Glasses all week because I had a eye full of sand the first time I walked out the gate, and I had to visit the First aid and the lady washed out the sand from my eyes and sent out a worker to buy me sunglasses very kind of her! Obviously been back a good few times including some booze ups!

The Card Shop or maybe Reel to Reel used to be a bike shop back in my day. I used to get bits for my Raleigh Chopper there back in the day. And then I recall that maybe there was an iron monger shop on side or t’other.

I once recorded an interview using a Sony V6000 hi-8mm (remember them), at a steam railway centre talking to the firemen and driver of a steam locomotive. I was so proud of myself it was only when I got home to do some editing that I’d realised I had the microphone switched off on the camera. I was pig sick and had to dump the whole video shoot on the “cutting room” floor.😡😡

Highfield Road looks like it's doing better than other parts of Blackpool. I used to go there a lot, as a kid, when my brother and his wife lived on Collyhurst Avenue. I didn't know you were born in St Annes...where abouts did you live? My parents owned a house on Forshaw Avenue, for over 60 years.
