Can foresee some accidents happening, that's for sure. The amount of revellers that stagger about that area and up Talbot road, it's an accident waiting to happen.

Great little vlog Blackpool Trams being tested along Talbot Road, so nice to see at last. That area certainly has changed with the new hotel going up and the new Sainsbury’s store. Looks almost like an airport from the outside. Shame that so many towns and cities got rid of their trams back in the 1940s and 1950s. I think here in Great Yarmouth they were rid of by the late 1930s. Blackpool had the sense to keep their trams. Nice vlog Stephen 👍

Regarding the traffic lights, I hope that when the service goes live, the light sequences will be re-done so as to cause zero to minimal disruption to the trans like they were in Manchester when the Metrolink went live.

Did you get to see the Heritage tram go up and down Talbot Road yesterday 15 June 24 Steve? What a difference 2 years make. They ran 3 special Balloon tram tours from Starr Gate via North Station, two to Fleetwood and one to Little Bispham, departing Starr Gate 10am, 3.55pm and 7pm. My partner and I managed to film the 3.55 tram near North Pier and I went to North Station to see the 7pm tram. Luckily the weather was nice. What I can't understand is, with the opening of the new tram extension, with lots of fanfare, brass bands, TV crews etc. Why does the carpark look like a building site? They had to open a gate to let the trams through. What will it be like later on today when it's open to the public? As always very interesting video Steve, thank you. xxx

Hi Stephen, I'm concerned from a safety point of view by the intersection of the trams at the already busy junctions at North Pier and Dickson/Talbot Roads. Far too many vehicles and pedestrians already ignore red lights, and delayed phases will make the temptation ever more a risk. If there was or a plan to counter this, then diversion of traffic flow would be a solution, but there are so few options without congesting the Promenade further. The service to North Station is a welcome move, enabling easier access the town centre, but will it attract visitors who don't know exactly where they're going vs. taxis directly to their hotels? I'm also concerned by how the service to North Station can be managed without detriment to through services between Starr Gate and Fleetwood without (double runs) adding significantly to journey times. Just a few thoughts.

Of course, when the tram turns off the Promenade, it does not turn into Talbot Road but into TALBOT SQUARE. Talbot Road starts at the junction of Corporation Street and goes to the left of the hotel whereas Clifton Street goes to the right. Otherwise a brilliant video of the first day though it seems I am in it more than the trams. Every day this week you can see footage of the tram testing on KZbin Podbaba Transport channel.

Well done capturing the trams today. Just seeing that junction today between Ma Kelly's and the tram station and all that traffic/ congestion, it makes me wonder if that's an accident waiting to happen! You were lucky not to get taken out a few times during that video! It looks dangerous, especially with the volume of people and traffic, and when the trams start full time it's going to be worse. I hope they work out a safe way for everyone to get about when it starts properly, but at the moment it just looks like disorganised chaos. Glad you got your shots of the trams though! Great job! 👍

What Blackpool really needs is a decent affordable Park & Ride system bringing people all the way into town ,all I can see the new north station trams are going to do is take people away from an all ready rundown town centre ,but I have to say it Blackpool needs to get rid of all the druggies and undesirables there the ones turning the town into a cess pit .it started just after the M 55was opened , the holiday trade started to drop off , it took some time but all that’s left are stag weekends and day trippers ,
