The Holiday Inn Blackpool Opens!

The Holiday Inn hotel in Blackpool Town Centre opened on May 1st 2024. The hotel is part of the huge Talbot Gateway project, which also contains the new tram station.

As usual your videos are always worth the watch and are of the highest quality and offer a balanced view of a town that like so many has its problems, but at least things are being done to at least try and improve the area. The trams start on the 12th June (specially invited trips for local people), full passenger services start on 16th June from what I've read.

You should go inside. I go once a week for a Starbucks. They welcome the public (non guests). Really nice decor and staff. Show the tourists what we have to offer and the locals for a nice place for a brew/alcoholic drink!

857 is a 1987 vintage ECW bodied Leyland Olympian that originally operated for London Buses. It would be converted to open top for the City Sightseeing operation which, in Blackpool, was franchised out to Blackpool Transport. When City Sightseeing pulled out, Blackpool Transport kept the bus for Private Hire & Special events.

Generally quite expensive hotels are Holiday Inns.They should have got Alf Roberts or Len Fairclough to open it or what about Benny from Crossroads!The most interesting Holiday Inn on Earth is the one in Beirut, Lebanon which is a big skyscraper and has stood empty since the civil war.

The bus is a Leyland Olympian. I rode on it at last years Morecambe Ribble bus rally up to Carnforth and back.
