Following his comedic career, I honestly did not know this about Hugh Laurie. I think he's very lucky his wife gave him that second chance. I do think it's wonderful that he and Emma Thompson have such a caring and enduring friendship. Emma, Hugh, and Stephen Fry are quite a team.

I believe Hugh Laurie became depressed because of the intensity of “House.” I loved that series, but he had to play the part of someone who was broken physically (in constant pain) and emotionally broken, plus he missed his family.

I guess he's not proud of the things he did and it kept bugging him for so long and believes he's not a good person at all. I'm not a fan of second chances but no one ia righteous, and only time can tell if a second chance given is worth it. Laurie is a proof that a man could change. 2024, he looks old and exhausted. As someone else commented, it's hard to see him like this, reminding us that there will be a time when he is not with us. As someone who has chronic pain and the depression that comes with it, I know how hard relationships of any kind are. Brilliant actor, beautiful singer. Go gently, Hugh, wherever you are.
