I knew Hugh Nibley's son, Charley. Great guy and an artist, acting was his medium. I credit Charley for my continuing relationship with the L.D.S. church. If Charley can be a Mormon, so can I. Long live artist in the L.D.S. church. I am one too.

Hugh is the most knowledgeable smart Dr of ancient scriptures. He refers to scripture but he knows the meaning and what is going to help us learners what we need to understand.

@@ourlifeinwashington4114 Please forgive me, I know this was a few years ago, but would you mind posting a link? I only see people posting The First Book of Adam and Eve, and everyone seems to be claiming Satan was right in the thumbnail. Is this the book Dr. Nibley was talking about?

I rarely catch anything deep from him - he goes wide to show how much he knows
@mattctr6 жыл бұрын
onetwothree57 I wouldn’t ascribe such motive to his method. Perhaps, you’re right; perhaps, you’re wrong. Perhaps, he’s trying to paint a wide outline in order that others could explore and fill in greater details after he was gone...

Read his books, you will get “deep”
@nathanhinebaugh15174 жыл бұрын
I think you have it exactly opposite. He’s trying to condense down what he knows to try and point out things which are relevant. If he was trying to show how much he knows, these lectures would each be a week long and there would be hundreds of them. But it sure sounds like you’re slamming Nibley here. Maybe try learning from him instead.
