Venezuela's problems are all their (leaders's) own, starting with Chavez.. Unsustainable socialist policies, CADIVI, overreliance on imports, drastic decreases in local production, and their refusal to use currency besides their own (no foreign lender wants debt and imports paid with a worthless bolivar, which has no value to anyone except Venezuelans) are the top reasons Venezuela has dropped to the status of failed state. Blaming America is just an easy and convenient excuse, tho they have absolutely nothing to do with Venezuela failing.

Peace love and unity. Democracy is not a perfect system but it’s historically the only systems that has lifted billions of people out of poverty. It’s as clear as looking at the standard of living of Americans vs the rest of the world and if you’ve never been here I suggest you look for your self. Like any country there’s poverty but the poverty line here is 31 times higher then around the world

I did not know Hugo Chavez was such an outstanding speaker, dare I say even better than Barack Obama, though that's whom watching him made me think of. How did Venezuela not develop economically under this seemingly ardent and passionate man's very long leadership, considering they have the biggest oil reserve in the world?

Venezuela Libre ! VIVA USA!

US sanctions crippled Venezuela and made their oil worthless. THAT is what caused the Venezuelan economy to recess which led to hyperinflation and a increase in cost of goods. BEFORE the US imposed those sanctions, Venezuela was actually doing pretty good for itself. One of the more prosperous nations in Latin America. You have to blame US foreign policy for those lines...not Chavez. Please educate yourself before leaving sarcastic and factually incorrect comments
