not only is this man pushing the envelope on fps, he’s pushing the envelope on how to be a good developer. No one is allowed to say they are bad developers anymore because they do interviews like this to figure out what the community wants

Hugo is a legend and id software is one of the few dev companies that i still respect. Its clear that they arent obsessed with money and that eternal is a passion project. One of the best games ive ever played. Edit: Yes hugo is a coke fan!

Hugo is a gem in the industry. I can't imagine a better guy for Doom. I could listen to him talk about anything for hours. Great interview as well. You could hear your nervousness a bit in the beginning, but you found your flow and did a fantastic job. I really hope id gives him the keys to QUAKE next. (see that car reference?) Would love to see him tackle the Lovecraftian horror that made the first game so memorable. Hope they still have Trent's phone number.

Mad respect for Hugo, such a humble guy always liked how he compliments his team, not many devs does that. Huge Respect 🙏

Mayo, this is great work. Not always a fan of your style but I loved how you managed to keep this interesting and let Hugo take over when he needed to, but also kept chiming in. I met the guy very briefly in 2017 in Dallas and only managed a few generic compliments about '2016 and felt really silly after. Great stuff, and what a great contribution to documenting the dev part of the fantastic Doom story we got to be a part of. Thanks!!

Hugo is so smart to say that id is targeted towards new first person perspective experiences, focusing on that genre and make it so that it doesn't have to be *just* a genre. I hope his T-shirt is indicative of what he's been playing. More broadly, I hope he's been playing many of the most popular Half Life mods, to include natural selection

Hugo Martin must really feel amazing every day he wakes up, because in doing his passion, he and his team undoubtedly created one of the very best FPS games of all time. Quite an achievement that he can be very proud of for the rest of his life.
