They took it from the actual name of Taiwan which is Republic of China. Chinese owned have to use the formal full name of the country People's Republic of China that way you can distinguish them. Since you are from Taiwan how do you use slang on 菲律賓航空? For the Filipinos this is their slang PAL🇵🇭
Had been in the aviation for very long. Many people actually choose not to take China Airline because they thought it was from China. If they change to another name apart from "China", I believe their sales will surge.

that’s interesting to hear that you have anecdotal data of people not choosing China Airlines due to the false assumption it was a Chinese airline 😯

Thanks for your comment, but there are a few examples of flag carriers rebranding due to various reasons. Although most go through visual updates, rather than complete rehauls that include a new name. Turkish Airlines is an example where a flag carrier airline has done so successfully. Again, not saying this should be done, rather addressing the common misunderstanding it can't be :) www.euronews.com/travel/2022/06/14/turkish-airlines-national-carrier-rebrands-itself-to-better-represent-country-s-culture
