This is Huion's latest pen display tablet and it's a goodie. The 15.6" screen has gone fully laminated reducing parallax. It also has the somewhat new and improved pen with tilt control and 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity. They have really caught up to what Wacom is doing with their Cintiq line.

@@brankelly1921 totally, the cintiq pro 16 costs $1500, that's at least $500 too much when Huion and other brands can do almost the same for $750 (without the touch screen, but then wacom doesn't even offer a tablet without touch screen unless you want to give up express keys and 4k and pay $600 anyway lol in which case you can buy the same from Huion for $400 and get the express keys anyway lmao) imo there should be a 16 inch pen display from wacom with touch screen, but in full hd and with express keys for not more than $800, then you would pay twice the amount than for the same Huion without touch screen, which is definitely enough

The lag is because you are using smoothing feature on the Photoshop (22% smoothing is actually a very high number and noticeably slows down the cursor). If you need to mention input lags, it's really (seriously) better to do the specific tests on Mspaint, since it is actually really good at reflecting the raw input without any afterprocessing.

@@musicpatron1693 Smoothing feature requires program to actually wait for a certain period of time to accumulate samples of recent stroke path. Pen lag is literally how smoothing feature works. Ain't no processors will be able to change that.

I'm in China and apart from "warm tip" they tend to say translate to "warm prompt" as well sometimes. It's just a funny translation due to the way chinese works

@@justov3049 It doesn't really mean anything in particular. "Hot tip" usually refers to a useful piece of advice. From that, we can assume a "warm tip" is a tip that isn't quite as useful but still helps.

XP-Pen has considerably improved its drivers and software since January, and have pretty good customer support. I made a few suggestions a few weeks back in regards to improving the software such as being able to name shortcuts that appear on screen instead of the key combo and they seemed to implement these features shortly after.

I've owned a Wacom Intuos Pro for 7 years. I wanted to switch to a screen tablet so I bought the Huion Kamvas Pro 13 for 400 USD. It worked like a dream and it was worth it.

Hey Brad! I bought a Huion Kamvas Pro 16 a few months ago after watching this review. I am running it on a decently fast Windows 10 tower. So far my experience with it has been pretty positive, though you are right; it did take a lot of tweaking. The tablet's construction seems very solid, the software is good, though it has some odd translation errors. The main problem I had with this tablet was getting it to work correctly with multiple displays. It would display at a reduced resolution, or wanted to be part of three screens, which was very awkward. I discovered that changes needed to be made both in the Huion software and in the control panel of my nVidia RTX2070 to fix the problem. At the moment I haven't figured out a way to do that automatically, which is slightly annoying. Once I got that figured out I had to rearrange my desk and add a tray to slide the keyboard and mouse under the desk when I use the tablet. Right now the Huion mirrors the main Windows monitor, and I use the second one for auxiliary stuff. Thanks again for the helpful review and general tips on drawing this way. I have done a lot of illustration, but this is a new experience for me.

Really happy about this. Moved to the new Cintiq 16 after the Kamvas Pro 13 burned me fairly hard, and really enjoy it, but definitely happy Huion keeps getting better.

Good to see there are great alternatives to Wacom out there. My 13 years old Intuos 3 finally failed to work and got myself a non-pro Intuos Medium yesterday (wanted to get the Pro version but can't justify 2X the price and reviews I read aren't all positive) as a stop gap. Man, in just 5 hours of use and the surface is scratched badly and 2 nibs were already replaced.

When you do the "ruler test" I suggest to keep the smoothing to 0% and the size of the brush as small as you can and hardness to 100%. In this way you can show if there are jittering or pixel jumping problems. ;) With 20% smoothing also crap tablet shows decent lines.

I bought my Kamvas 16 Pro 3 months ago based on your review. It is really a great piece of hardware! After 3 months of daily use though I think that I should have bought one with larger screen, higher resolution and more programmable hotkeys. The only issue I've come across that is really a problem is that it doesn't show a lot of details in bright areas. No matter how I adjust the screen display settings certain details are visible on my monitor, but not on the drawing tablet screen. In cases like that I have to use the Kamvas like my old Wacom (work on the tablet while looking at the computer monitor).

super excited to use this. im still very new to art, still in early areas of learning on my own. my tiny little square wacom died after a couple months. it was a handme down. but i snagged this one on lightening deal on amazon for like 250. was able to bundle it with a extra glove and a good stand for about 300. so im super super excited.

After a few months of use, as a relative beginner with digital art, I bought this tabled based on yours and other reviews and I am satisfied. Parallax can get a little annoying sometimes, especially around the edges, but the product overall is solid. I also like having express keys, which actually makes it better for me than a lot of wacoms in a way

Brad, you said that you would want the drivers to go deeper like not having to import settings on the express keys. I might be wrong but the Artist 15.6 pro driver have the ability to add applications to express keys like Wacom too, I think.

I used to have drivers and different software compatibility issues with Wacom. I was surprised how Huion had none of those and even the default calibration felt just right. Also taking their prices and overall quality into account I think it's a steal.

this is one of those upgrades that really blows it out of the park compared its first generation. i owned the gt 156v2 and seeing them actually add things that people wanted like usb c, better build(which is surprising because the one i have is pretty well build as compared to others) and much bettter display(which was the weakest point) makes me happy.

You are the first to say how the monitor actually needs and works. That puts you above everyone, even Huion themselves who don't come out and say what you can do or achieve with it in the manual. Please keep this level of interest and don't assume. I'm disabled and won't or cannot use it like you. I can't sit at a desk the computer will have to sit on the floor. That's why we ask stupid questions like how it actually works we are trying to setup to our environments. ;)

Thank you for flipping the tablet albeit quickly. I feel like especially Chinese companies are notorious for making tablets that work only for right-handed folk, even on this one seems like the power button would have logo upside down on left-hand mode and since it’s not re-progammable it would be easier to accidentally shut it down if you use it on your lap. With that said, I love your reviews but would like to see quick ”left-hand flip” added to be added to your checklist: How will the cords set (will they be on the way), how are the side buttons (are they inconvenient if tablet is flipped) and last but not least if it comes with a stand, can you attach the tablet left-hand mode (that stopped me from buying an otherwise seemingly great tablet monitor once).

I just bought one and I'm happy with it. I'm starting to draw with CSP and I'm having fun. Thank you for this helpful review. After I customized buttons I had to turn off & on the display for changes to show up. And the + sign didn't work in their app so I couldn't create certain shortcuts. I did like that's it's thin. I want more shortcut keys. It's great for my immediate project, makeup maps for theater using CSP, but if I want to use it with solidworks and Photoshop, the better Wacom driver is a better fit.

The movement lag you're talking about around 6:55 could also be a result of Line Smoothing. Usually this is set in the software but, it may also be a function of the driver. Basically, it averages out the curve of the stroke and adjusts it for a smoother transition.

The Wacom Cintiq pro 24 and 32 come with the ExpressKey Remote in the box so you don't lose hotkeys with those models. I was with you when they took away the ExpressKeys on the Cintiq 27QHD, but after actually using the ExpressKey Remote, I found that it was a much better way to use ExpressKeys at least for me. I am glad they include it in the box for the larger Cintiqs. I wish they would throw it in the box for the smaller ones too. I feel for people willing to cough up $1500 for the Cintiq Pro 16 won't make a stink about spending an extra $100 for the Expresskey Remote. Though I get why it's not in the box. A lot of artists feel like with the latest interfaces the need for Hotkeys is diminished since they have been improving the interface thanks to the fact that the iPad exists. Honestly, when I draw on my favorite 2D art apps I don't have to use hotkeys at all. While I think it is nice that these alternatives are closing the gap, most of them have a deal breaker for me. I use a lot of different apps in my workflow so until Huion adds per app hotkeys it is going to be a deal breaker. In any given day I am using Maya, Blender, Zbrush, and Substance Painter at the very least. Not to mention Marvelous designer, clip studio, photoshop or Houdini. Having to reprogram hotkeys each time I want to change apps would be such a waste of time. It's the reason that I went from a Wacom alternative to a Wacom in the first place. XP-Pen is the only Wacom alternative that I have seen that allows you to customize the hotkeys per app but their UI is clumsy compared to Wacom and the jitter in their pen is just a bit too much for me to ignore. There is a reason Wacom has been able to keep their prices up and not respond to these competitors in price. Overall except for a few exceptions, they are best in class. It's the same reason Intel can charge a price premium and so can Nvidia. I am not ready to trade in my Cintiq for one of these alternatives yet. They still have a way to go.

The ability to set per application hotkeys is honestly the only thing I'm left wanting now. Hopefully the more people mention it, the sooner Huion gets to adding it. I went from by banged up old Intuos 3 (It's a trooper and I love it, but it's earned its rest) to the Kamvas Pro 13 last year . I'm honestly looking into getting one of the larger 20+ variations of the Kamvas line as well. The 13 is very nice, but when at home, I'd prefer something larger, but the 16 is not large enough to warrant an upgrade over the 13 in my book.

It's been 3 weeks, I REALLY like this tablet! At first, drawing with the pen on the screen feels really awkward and ripple-y, but you can just go ham for a bit and it'll wear down enough to not be awkward. I personally use it with Clip Studio Paint PRO and FireAlpaca. -If your desktop is 1920 x 1080 then I would recommend mirroring your desktop to the screen tablet, instead of using it as an extended display BECAUSE this specific Kamvas Pro 16 is 1080p! If you extend your screen instead of duplicating, everything will be smooshed. Yes, this means you can't watch Kitchen Nightmares on your pc while you draw on your tablet, and if you decide to do it then it comes with a price lol.- *(Note: I was dumb when I typed that, my display size on windows was set to 150% and it made the monitor look kinda cheap. I set it back to the normal 100% and everything became crisp and clear again 👌)* I'm not sure what the very bottom button does but I use the one above it to Undo, and the one above that to Save my file. 10/10 very convenient! The pen weighs basically nothing. If you're used to using an UGEE, XP-Pen, or Wacom pen, then you'll notice how light it is while you draw with it but it has a nice grip. If you want a heavier pen I'd suggest getting a pen accessory grip for it. If I missed anything let me know lol

Lately tested new Wacom and Huion tablet like this. After 1 hour testing one and the other I can tell that my eyes hurted pretty badly after using Huion and Wacom was actually good on eyes, didn’t hurt at all. The colors also were nicer. I wonder if that’s why the prize is that much different.

Enable touch is for the slider, if u uncheck it the touch slider will stop working (u won't be able to zoom in and out.........)

Good review - I have the Kamvas Pro 13 and my only "con" is the screen proportion - looks like the 15.6 goes for that "panoramic" ratio too. Be interesting to see the Kamvas Pro 16 next to the new XP-Pen Artist 16.

I recently bought a Kamvas Pro 13 last month or so, and one thing that made it almost unusable to me is that there's an uneven cursor displacement to the bottom-right, across the top (lowest) to the to the bottom (highest) of the screen, that I can't get rid of, no matter how much I calibrate the tablet. Did you notice that too? I asked them and they said it's normal, but I doubt it.

I just bought the Cintiq 16 (not pro) and I took a looong time to research, and honestly I still had a hard time between the cintiq and the new kamvas 16. The only thing that made me pick the cintiq in the end was just that wacoms last a long while, and Huions are still too new to know how long they will last.

I am a new Cintiq 16 user myself, but before I got my first Wacom display, I had to use my roommate's Kamvas GT-191 for a few years. Granted, the Cintiq 16 uses older tech, but the feel and quality of the pen is vastly superior. After using a Wacom pen for the first time, I felt that the Huion pens were a tad too spongy (it must have something to do with the retracting spring that 'detects' pressure). Huion pen nibs are also thicker, around twice as thick as Wacom nibs. I prefer thinner nibs since I'm already used to inking pens in traditional art. Lastly, even if both pens have 8192 pressure levels, for some reason the Wacom pen manages to pick up even my lightest strokes. For the Huions, I had to press down a little harder.

@Gurnski Deti now with more experience with my tablet I would say it is worth the price. Wacoms new products are horrible. The main issue with the kamvas right now is that when you tilt the pen while holding the cursor would be offset by a noticeable amount. Also I wish that the pens tip was not springy and as of now you can't go from %100,pressure to 0% pressure as the pen tip would be pressed down and retracted. Huion just needs to fix these issues and improve calibration. Design wise the kamvas is better than the cintiq. The press keys are God send and the materials used are premium. I love it so much. Hopefully the pens tip would improve along with the tilt issue. Worth every penny

Yes, you need to buy the stand separately, if you buy a bundle from Amazon with a stand, I think it's about 425 dollars, if you buy it from huion around 430 plus shipping or if you just want the stand alone it's like 50 dollars

Wacom Cintiq 22 -- $999 And Huion Kamvas Pro 22 - $899 You may find it in Amazon. $100 - its nothing If Huion Kamvas Pro has to price of about $650 - it be nice more for customers, but we haven't any alternative price for these devices. And don't forget about support services - when your device starts lagging and actual drivers update.

I'd love to see how this will directly compared side-by-side with Wacom Cintiq non-Pro 16 and XP-PEN Artist 15.6 Pro, obviously their technology is gonna be different; but XP-PEN and Huion have the advantages of laminated screens. That said, if I ever aim for a screen tablet, this seems like a solid choice; even though the Huion non-Pro Kamvas 16 is also catching my eye. Hm..

He said its better than the nonpro cintiq 16. It's got better color accuracy and a laminated screen (no parallax), where as the non pro 16 fails in both regards.

hiya i got myself the huion kamvas 16 and after reading through a lot of xp pen artist 15.6 pro reviews, theyre actually p similar. Personally i think i regret not getting the xp pen instead because the design looks slightly nicer ( hehe red), more hotkeys, and you dont need to plug the tablet to a power outlet( it can run just from your computer battery)

I actually have this tablet and it does have rotation. You just need to turn that on in the brush settings. It doesnt work as smoothly though.

We can't seem to get the Huion Kamvas pro 16 to get to the point where we can draw. Please help us get this set up if you can. All my daughter wanted for Christmas was this and we have been trying to get it to work for hours. We have downloaded the drivers from 12.20, we are using windows 10 and the screen is small about half of what it should be and we can't get past that....

If lag is the concern there also are other drivers to minimize lag at the cost of some precision, at least for their lower end tablets. However there is absolutely no need for such low lag for drawing, the drivers are meant for games etc.

Hi!, from new update (I think from 10'th june) there is possibility now to adjust shortcuts/keyes to each programme. You have to go to settings and add new application.

BeastKonoha World i just got the xp pen artist 15.6 pro on a flash sale for $307- these seem pretty similar in quality (i love my new tablet), but the biggest drawback i see of this huion is the settings- the typical hot keys for illustrator and photoshop are completely different, and having to re do setting every time you switch seems cumbersome :/ plus the xp pen gets more hot keys and a cool dial, and a power button on the side that won’t be hit accidentally.

Chaotic Moira yes, you can! That’s why i like it. Maybe if you’re only using one program it might be fine, but if you switch between illustrator and photoshop like I do, it would be way too annoying to have to re-input the program key settings every time on the huion. That’s why I think the xp-pen has an advantage in terms of convenience. And it’s a solid tablet beyond that of course.

They both have the same RGB range but this tablet is configured much better right out of the box and is much easier to get great colors on

What’s your take on 1080 vs 4K for drawing tablets? I tried the Wacom One very briefly and was turned off by how pixelly the screen was after being so used to iPads and iPhones; I’m not sure I could adjust. Would getting a larger screen like this help or hurt?

Not really much to compare. Spec wise they're completely identical and most likely use the same LCD and digitizer. Only real difference is the xp pen one has two more buttons and a wheel instead of a touch bar. Like he said at the end of the video. If you can't decide, flip a coin because outside of the buttons, they're essentially the same product.

How is this compared to the Gaomon PD1560? There are uncomfortable activation force for the Gaomon. Also there are some line wobbles with Gaomon. Would the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 be a leap from my Gaomon?
