Oh, this is great! Love to take my Ooni Fyra camping, and, with marinating the chicken wings the night before we leave, this looks like an easy way to make friends at the campsite.

So I made these today. The only thing I did not have was the Hard Core Carnivore. I also made a batch with my "Gold" standard Franks. Let me tell you, I have a new "gold" standard now. These were freaking delicious. The char I got with my Ooni gas pizza oven and cast iron pan just added to the overall flavor. The smell from me reducing the sauce was spectacular. My wife who swears by Franks converted. That Hoffs ketchup is a new staple in my kitchen.

Huli is a Hawaiian word for turn. While I’m jonesing for a Ooni oven I’m not sure how you constantly turn the chicken.

As someone who h grew up feasting, and later prepping chickens for cooking, let me say.... 1)Huli=To turn/flip, as rotisserie...over fire, preferably wood-fired 2)Huli-huli "basting sauce" is, foremost, STRICTLY dry rub consisting of.... Sea/kosher/rock salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder/flakes, granulated garlic, onion powder, dried rosemary, dried thyme. Blend is subjective to individual cook 3)No Liquids are involved!...Save for water in spray bottle to create smoke, imparting flavor onto chicken Have seen numerous "huli-huli" videos extolling "Hawaiian huli-huli sauce"....Huli-huli is wholly Hawaiian technique/method of grilling/roasting over open wood fire. Teriyaki is Japanese-based cooking marinade. Huli-huli & teriyaki....separated by 3000 miles & eons of history, blended together in the middle of an ocean

Cool recipe, but honestly, who has a wood fired oven? Would love if you can talk about alternatives. Very few people have any sort of oven that reaches 600 degrees. Still enjoy your vids though.

6:28 Thanks Tom for specifying the remainder sauce NOT mixed with the wings. Sanitation is important and no cross contamination allowed. Well done
@BrianMiller19732 жыл бұрын
You could technically bring the used sauce to a boil to sanitize it, but it’s probably best to not chance it.
@nicholasmedovich86912 жыл бұрын
@@BrianMiller1973 definitely not. Bacteria like 0157 is no joke.

@@nicholasmedovich8691 Foodborne bacteria die at 165F. Bringing it to a boil CAN make it safe. I don’t do it often at all, but have when I neglected to reserve some.
