Hulk Befriends Troubled Woman | Season 1 Episode 14 | The Incredible Hulk they always instigated events wherein he'd end up enmeshed in the bs of other less notable people. i liked this show.... still, as a kid yer merely waiting for the green man to appear not taking a blind bit of notice about the storyline unfolding. even the stalker ie: the journalist was a fly in the ointment.... a bane. and he kept the plot twisting and turning, really. he was the catalyst to the hulk's woes...

Jason Kenner my all-time favorite Hulk Out is in the episode "The First" where Clive created a Hulk years ago. Banner is so close to getting the cure but the old Hulk throws the serum and breaks it. Bill Bixby's emotions, watching his cure be broken, is unreal. There is rage, sadness and he actually starts crying. You can feel his pain as he starts to Hulk Out.

The use of the Dual footage may have been a tip of the hat to the Universal TV film. From the interviews Kenneth Johnson has given, the decision to use the Dual footage was financial. Kenneth Johnson learned he had a set budget. Once the actors, crew, craft services, cameras, sound, and studio was paid, he barely had any money left to pay for film and audio stock. This situation applied to ALL Universal Television Productions. The script for this episode was titled "Never Give a Trucker an Even Break". So he had to find stock footage and props in Universals possession that would work with the script. The stock and props only available to create this episode was from the Steven Spielberg/ Denise Weaver film Dual. Steven Spielberg became repulsed that his film was used as stock footage. He wanted to sue Universal, but his lawyer informed him Universal OWNED the rights to Dual and The Incredible Hulk. He had no legal leverage. The only legal advise he could relay was to have a codicil in his future film contract that his films could not be used for stock footage.

This is one other reason this series still works so well, forty years later: it's an unintentional period piece. Phone booths like the one depicted here, once relatively ubiquitous, have long since gone the way of the 5-1/4" floppy disk. In keeping the series as grounded as possible, Kenneth Johnson, whether he intended it or not, created a series that was as much a document of late 1970's-early 1980's America, as it was a superhero series.

Also part of the time period: dialing the operator for an emergency call rather than 911, since 911 wasn't nationwide at this point.
@Nunavuter13 жыл бұрын
911 wasn't a thing everywhere, so he dialed 411 for directory assistance. Call display was also not a thing, so not knowing the phone booth's number could only be worked around with a call trace. Those weren't easy to do, and took some time. Thing is, dialing "0" for the operator always worked, but the plot required it not to.

One of my favorite episodes is when Lou ferrigno wasn't in make up and was onstage posing for a bodybuilding contest. The other favorite, although, it touched on a real life sensitive subject about child abuse is when the hulk let the boy's father take out his anger on him and the boy watched in shock as he watched his dad punch the hulk repeatedly while crying aloud, "Daddy, please don't hit me anymore. I promise I'll be good. Please, Daddy, don't hit me". That was one of the toughest episodes for me to watch. I truly appreciated the lessons of humanity and decency in this show. What a gem. Hope future generations will get to watch this amazing show and enjoy it as much as I did and still do. Well, good night hulk fans.

I'll never forget when I first saw the Incredible Hulk TV series for the first time. I was 6 years old at the time, and it was the original broadcast of this very episode, Never Give a Trucker An Even Break. And this Hulkout in the phone booth was the first time I saw Dr. David Banner change into the Hulk. And I became a Hulkaholic for life. And oddly enough, this episode also made me a fan of the Duel movie that this episode was written around. My favorite season is the first season and strangely enough, this was the only season I saw out of chronological order. The week after Trucker, CBS repeated the 2 hour Death in the Family. I never saw the pilot movie in full until years later in syndication. So Trucker was my episode #1 for quite a while. The Incredible Hulk was, is and forever will be my number one, all time favorite TV series. Nothing will ever beat it. Bill Bixby was my idol or childhood hero through his body of acting work in the role of Dr. David Banner. Sadly, I never got the chance to meet him. But I have met Lou Ferrigno quite a few times over the years and I saw him again most recently. I have the complete series and reunion movies on DVD and even though I can watch them anytime, I still love to watch the series on Friday nights. :)

I can't believe it or am I imagining it? I grew up in the 80s being mad on Dual as one of my favourite films and The Incredible Hulk as one of my favourite TV programs I can't believe they did an episode of The Incredible Hulk featuring the red car and truck from Dual I can't believe they did Dual meets The Incredible Hulk until now!

This was so cool. They clearly got two similar vehicles so they could use footage from the movie Duel which is on of my favorite movies.

5:33 - Those old fogeys like me who remember pay phones (rotary, no less) and went through the experience of not having enough change for a call (and knew the person on the other end wouldn't accept a collect call) can totally relate to this moment.

This one is funny out of context ("I DON'T HAVE 25 CENTS!"), but watching the whole thing you can see it's a death of a thousand cuts, just one little frustration after another, all the while a woman is screaming for help, until he just snaps.

Yeah may be He was But He was loved by most children all around the world in 70's & is still a Legend when it comes to The Incredible Hulk. Since today so many movies have been made & so many actors have played the Hulk Character, but still no one has achieved that fame, Love & Popularity amongst audiences

The best hulk out ever. There were about 4 others that rank high too. But I'll always remember and want to watch this one. They should have made one where he "hulks out" against the post office. LoL

Love me some Jennifer Darling!😍 She also played "Miss Peggy Callahan" the receptionist for Oscar Goldman in The Six Million Dollar Man/Bionic Woman TV series. This also gives you some idea just how strong Lou Ferrigno was to be able to carry Jennifer Darling and run while holding her in one arm.
