But that's literally what happened. He actually did slam Andre & beat him, he did not know he was going to win the match that night because Vince never told him the finish. Andre had 100% creative control over his booking, if he didn't wanna lose he didn't, it was always his call.

He has always said that Andre had the power because who was going to tell the big guy what to do. He's mentioned he created a script of how the match would play out and only until he noticed Andre was actually following that script did Hogan know how things were going to go. Andre and Vince were obviously just ribbing Hogan the whole time about not doing the job for laughs.

Andre rarely worked out matches beforehand with people. He did whatever he felt like doing.

I know Hogan is a notorious liar, but he’s told the story numerous times that the entire match was written out except for the ending. He claims he honestly didn’t know. Even the first failed body slam was in the script. He even showed a picture of the script and it was a handwritten script of wrestling moves. The day of the match Hogan went to Andre and asked him how he wanted to end it. Andre said “Don’t worry about it.” In a different video I heard him say, like he said here, that Andre said “Slam!” which surprised Hogan, then Andre said “Leg Drop!” which surprised Hogan even more because that was his finisher and then I guess he was expecting Andre to kick out, but he didn’t. And Hogan won the match. It seems hard to believe, but he claims that he really didn’t know if he was going to win or lose.

The one thing I will say Hogan is full of shit about. There's no way the outcome of this match was ever in doubt. Listen to anybody ever talk about Andre and they will say he was always about the business and protecting it. There was no way in hell he wasn't going to do the job. So all Hogans talk about there being doubts about the outcome are garbage.
