9:29 Seriously? What am I supposed to do, guess if the bubble is centered somewhere between the lines? Why isn't the bubble big enough to reach both lines when level and centered? There's a lot of room for error - costly error - with the slop between those lines, easily up to 1/4-in. out of level over a mere two feet. Today's levels are crap, including Hultafors. I still have four older levels, a four-footer and three two-footers, and when level, the bubble on all four touches both lines.

I was wondering if it was just me noticing how the bubble doesn't fit between the lines, and there are no secondary/runoff calibration lines.
@rla10003 жыл бұрын
@@disklamer That is an excellent idea - secondary calibration lines. Level manufacturers should adopt it. One of the issues I have with "modern" levels is that the bubble keeps getting smaller. One comment I read said that an expert can judge where the bubble needs to be to be level. I say BS, lots of factors affect that reading - eyesight of the user, sunlight, cold, awkward position, etc. If you have to guess, there are going to be errors, and the smaller the bubble, the more likely an error.
@disklamer3 жыл бұрын
@@rla1000 Unless you're working at eye level it can be damn near impossible to read a bubble, I've started using my phone camera to get an angle on a bubble but it's a whole new set of juggling skills.
@rla10008 ай бұрын
@@Petertronic And that's BS. Why is the bubble ALWAYS, 100 percent of the time, in between the tow lines. It NEVER reaches the two lines. So that explanation is bogus.

How are the vials manufactured to produce a precise curvature in a fully enclosed transparent substance?

Hi and thank you for your question! We mill the cavity, fill it with liquid and then seal it. Best wishes, Amanda

How straight are the profiles? A coworker was arguing today claiming levels are straightedges but curve in (bows in). It’s one of the most absurd thing I ever heard but am looking for manufacturers proof stating such. Are all levels generally manufactured straight?
@wudgee6 күн бұрын
Some good jokes in the comments. I now live in France and there are lots of levels with the straight edge on one side and a bowed/bent look the other. Do you know any reason for this?
@HultaforsGroup4 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for getting in touch I've consulted with our Product Manager and it seems like spirit levels made of cast aluminum use these kind of shapes in order to give a stronger profile without adding extra weight. Hope this helps answering your question ✨ Best wishes, Caroline

Are Hultafors brand levels manufactured by Sola? Especially the high precision jamb level looks identical to Sola HPL model. The box level in the video looks like Sola but anodized black and with slightly different removable end caps.
@Fekillix4 жыл бұрын
Their regular levels definitively are, but I don't know about the precision level. The frame definitively isn't identical betweent the Hultafors and SOLA, and the SOLA looks to use a vial from their other regular levels. I need a high precision level but I don't want to fork out $250 for the Hultafors one.
