Hultafors chisels

I have a 1" Stanley Fat Max (beater that I don't mind dropping on concrete) and while I am not a big fan of the chisel it is great for those circumstances where you suspect a nail might lurk and you want to strike it with a mill faced framing hammer. I sharpen my Stanley with a belt sander - when I run out of blade I buy another one - I am on my second Stanley Fat Max now - My other Chisels are good and get taken care of. For rough carpentry you need a Fat Max "Beater" and a decent one for better work like door hinges etc.

On the hultafors site, the one with the striking cap is illustrated used to remove tiles :), but the one with red handle is pictured with wood. Probably meant for different tasks? (just trying to defend my own purchase of the edc set :) )

I bought all 5 sizes of the red handle Hultafors. I’d agree that the black finish is an annoyance for sharpening, and ALL NEW CHISELS need to be properly grinded, honed, and polished, prior to use to be properly reviewed. The red handled ones seem to have softer steel than I’d prefer, but they were under $40CAD.

I got the red handled ones for site work because they are so much lighter. They sharpen up more than good enough for site work.

Was going to purchase but cancelled my order based on this review. Really surprised that Hultafors would put their name on this product. Made in Taiwan though not Sweden so makes sense

Funny that you think the land that a factory sits on affects it's results. Both high and low quality products are produced in Sweden. Both high and low quality products are produced in Taiwan.

They are for everyday use and demolition, hence it being carbon steel.
