The Akka is one of my favorite axes. The extra handle length puts it at an entirely different level than the Small Forest axe. Very versatile small axe.

Real nice axe Ben, unfortunately I'm stuck with an absolutely perfect GB SFA that you hand picked for me many years ago. It's my most cherished bushcraft tool, it fits me like a glove. Love the new videos!!

I have both and the akka is more versatile for sure and the quality is just like my Gransfors bruks. The Akka is now my go to axe.

My son adopted mine... I have a Wetterlings 19” and a GB Scandinavian Forest Axe and, although I like the slightly larger GB more the HB is every bit as good as the Wetterlings, and really gives up very little to the GB.

I have the Almike and man I love it. HB has done me good and I don’t plan on changing that. I just need to get more of them lol.

Great video, one the better ones out there. Short, sweet and to the point.

I've always used boy's axes in this size range but I bought an HB Jonaker a couple years ago and I've been thoroughly pleased HB's quality, though the 9.5" Jonaker is limited to light carving duty due it it's short handle. I debated the GB SFA vs HB Aneby but the Akka is definitely going to be my next Swede. Unfortunately I've been bitten by the double bit addiction: so far two Cruisers and a 3.5 pounder, two of which I still need to haft (along with my FIL's double bit I'm restoring). So many great axes, it's a great problem to have.

Proud owner of the GB Scandinavian Forest. Nothing wrong with having a collection of axes. Never know when you have a helper.

What was the conclusion? Did you prefer the Akka over the GB SFA? Do you still feel the same way now that almost a year has passed?
@bensbackwoods5 жыл бұрын
I still think it is a fantastic axe, the longer handle and thicker head will do more work than a small forest axe.
@asdfjkli5 жыл бұрын
@@bensbackwoods Thank you! I decided to purchase it myself and it does seems like a nice axe. I'm just a bit concerned about the depth of the stamped logo and its effect on durability, especially during winter and on harder woods. Mine is seriously deep! At the deepest point it goes 3/8ths into the blade material. Is yours similarly deep?
@bensbackwoods5 жыл бұрын
@@asdfjkli do not worry about the stamp....the cutting edge is hardened....the rest of the axe is softer steel

Good video. Curious how it compares to a HB Kisa on the same tasks. And would the difference in performance justify the difference in weight/length?
@bensbackwoods3 жыл бұрын
Hey....The Kisa has a heavier head and longer handle...It will absolutely do more work than this axe...the downside is it is not quite as portable...
@moderntentcamping4 жыл бұрын
I notice that the Akka cutting edge is straighter than other woodcraft axes. Have you noticed any positive or negative effects of this straighter bit?
@bensbackwoods4 жыл бұрын
No negative on a axe this size...the positive is the carving ability especially in hewing things flat.

Nice demo .... This is likely to become my first axe .... just required for light duty. Thanks
