" Traffickers build on silence" That is exactly right. This is true with every form of abuse, especially against children. It's not polite conversation to talk about it, and it will deaden a conversation really fast. No one wants to hear about it. Even those who care, don't know how to help. I am still trying to figure out what to do, other then spreading awareness. This was a very brave and courageous talk!

This was such an amazing and powerful talk. I also used to believe trafficking didn't occur where I live, and that I'm not at risk, but I know better now. My sister was trafficked at the age of 13. They used me, her younger sister, against her. Telling her they would rape and kill me if she didn't comply. The men were between 20 and 35 years old, and she got pregnant 2 times, but aborted them in silence. Luckily she got out of it a few months later when the guy who sold her got bored with her, but at that time she had already endured so much. I had no idea this was going on until 10 years later. I remember her being rebellious and skipping school at that time, but everyone, including me, thought that was just "typical teenage behavior". I wonder if this could have been prevented if we just talked about trafficking more. Maybe we would have seen the signs, or maybe the doctors who gave her the abortion pills would have asked more questions. We need to talk about this, it's so important that we do. Everyone needs to see this video.

I'm sorry about what happened to your sister, and I'm glad she got out. Yes, education is key to getting more information about prevention to others.

Beautiful brave soul. This is a topic I've been ignoring for years, but I can no longer turn away and pretend it's someone else's problem. My friends are not enjoying that I am speaking about it as much as I am....but I totally agree that it will not end until everyone is willing and able to admit the extent to which it happens. I want to do more....I don't really know what I will do ..for now I'm just refusing to add to the silence that shrouds it. It's not much...but it's a start

A powerful courageous talk, really brings it home, as does each similar talk. Each bit of information, each insight from these talks makes it a little more possible for each one of us to pick up on situations involving trafficking when we come across them. The law as such is laughable, the power rests with the people.

Michigan is # 2 in the list for the highest human trafficking rates next to Las Vegas in 2019 yet people still have this mindset like it's not happening.

Thanks Catalleya - We need to educate each other on this. Be awake and make our societies safe and prostitution free.
@CatalleyaStorm7 жыл бұрын
No problem! Education is key. I think also having an understanding of what prostitution is and what it isn't. Also, an understanding of what human trafficking is and ways to keep it from happening, but also what sex work is and what leads to people needing to engage in sex work for survival.

I keep hearing this 13 years old or 15 years old figure. The MK Ultra people in the worldwide ring like them at 2 or 3. TRANCEformation of America by Cathy O Brien, and Thanks for the memories by Bryce Taylor AKA Sue Ford. These are horrifying stories. ANd the ring is HUGE.

I will never forget the knife at my throat and duck tape on my face. The man that I have been with for thirty three years initiated a gang rape for reasons I will never know. my guess is to mark me as property to make sure no one will ever want me. In other words "Damaged"

The issue is disinterested capitalism coupled with disposable people. As long as populations grow, usually based on reckless procreation, we have the endless supply of exploitable labor. Want to change the balance of power ? Push for more responsibility in procreation and parenting
