Amen to pacing yourself. I worked in a warehouse that was heavy on getting these impossible numbers and the more you strived to get those numbers, the more they kept raising the bar! It got to the point where I finally realized that I was giving 150+% and they kept wanting, or should I say, DEMANDING I keep meeting those new numbers to the extent that I couldn't consistently do those numbers everyday that they then started threatening me with write ups and points if I couldn't or didn't make those numbers from the day before. I started getting written up for "job performance" or "quantity" or "quality" issues. So needlessly to say, I got severe job burnout from them demanding that I work like a Hebrew slave. Mentally, physically and spiritually exhausted to the point I just couldn't do it no more. They kept squeezing blood out of a turnip and once the blood was no longer, they continued to squeeze and squeeze to no end in sight. So ever since then, I made a vow to myself I'm going to give 100% like I always do but I will never cast pearls to swine again. They don't appreciate it. Matter of fact, I means nothing to them. All they care about are the numbers. I understand there is a quota to meet but when others are just standing around not doing anything, they will make you take up their slack and work you to death if you let them. Moral of the story: You do the best you can do and if that isn't good enough for them, then you really don't want to work for those kind of people anyway... If everybody would just pull their own weight, it would make everyone's job ALOT more enjoyable!

I have been working my very first ever warehouse job for almost one year now, and every single word of advice you have said I agree with 100%. I bought myself a brand new box cutter and gloves and it has already paid off for me. I wear comfy shoes everyday with inserts ( Personally I prefer New Balance ). LOVE how you said " DONT wear yourself out, or your body" That is #1. In a environment where you deal with groups of workers it can stress a person out cause. The workers could be annoying it causes problems sometimes if your working full time its hard to avoid it. To add something to number 3: its not that you dont have to be fast, just dont be exhausted. Reason: when you get too tired, even if you push yourself, you got something monoton, and your thinking slows down. Why it is important? Because until you work w 110%, someone else with calm, fresh thinking can make the same job lot faster than you, with minimal effort. Remember: in logistics you also have to work with your head. Also if it happens, just try to copy what the other guy/girl doing, and look if its fit for you.

I like your videos because it's more like a nostalgic thing for me 😊 It was the Amazon fulfillment center in Atlanta/ATL6 that I met my husband back in 2016. It was a fun job! I was able to work at auto sort with friends or manual sort. Not to mention that everyone I knew worked there! Definitely one of the best work experiences of my life. I mean yeah there was drama within the work place but I never got involved! I just worked with my friends and enjoyed back then the freedom that the warehouse gave. It was definitely a jovial atmosphere even during peak season! And working with HIM made everything better. I just smile as I remember the early parts of our relationship because it had a lot to do with Amazon ❤ From losing gloves all the time to rushing to clock out when the PA's would yell VTO. To losing my bade on countless occasions! All of that brings me back so many happy memories. 🥰

Anyone watching this, I had feet pain for nearly 10 years working in retail that never got better no matter what shoes or insoles I wore. The first 2 weeks after I received a pair of professional orthotic insoles, the feet pain was gone. Any shoe was comfortable, no more sore/throbbing feet after a long day or tight calves when walking for a few minutes. Work was easy and efficient, it wasn't a chore anymore. The chance you can afford it, which is highly expensive here in Australia for the office I went to but about roughly 40% can be deducted by private health insurance at $900AUD ($820 for assessment, scan, fitting and the insole itself, $80 for the appointment), I HIGHLY recommend going to an Podiatrist and getting custom made Orthotic insoles. It's expensive but it's worth it over the amount of different shoes I wasted money on trying to solve the issue myself.
@HumanEncoded
@HumanEncoded 11 ай бұрын
This is great advice! $800 AUD convert to roughly $585 dollars USD which is still pricey for some shoe inserts. I have known people in the past that exactly have feet issues and can not wear just any shoe comfortably.

Gel boot inserts last longer and keep your natural foot arch and buffer against the solid concrete floor. They dont lose shape or fall apart as much. Highly recommend gel inserts. Im a counterbalance and reach FLT driver, soon to be instructor. Also hard work leads to hard work. People who think they're going places by learning everything often end up getting used and abused and burnt out. Be good at one thing you can tolerate and get some level of job satisfaction out of it is what i say. Management place you where you are best as that is part of their job. If you make yourself good at everything, you will end up soing everything. Dont be a yes man but don't be rude.

Tbh. Just go to the post office. Amazon benefits are not that great and the company sucks as a whole and don’t care about their workers. At least they can’t fire you for stupid reasons at the post office bc you’re protected by a union. After a year or two depending on need at your location you can be a regular career employee with actual benefits and higher pay. Raises every year. More paid time off. Shoot there are some people who are hired right into career getting benefits. They hire from within FIRST. If you get in and don’t like your job you can apply for another position and location. And work until they move you. You get a week break in between switching jobs. Trust me. It’s still gonna be hard work but people need to tech those younger than them about working smarter not harder. Work for a place that actually gives you something in return. Not just a job.

Pace is key. There's no sense to kill yourself for the big company if your not getting paid per unit. Good tips in this video. However, they're making robots that can do all these warehouse jobs as we speak. They can do your job faster, more efficiently, and they don't call out sick. So always have a plan B bc you are very, very, very, replaceable to them.

It’s not lazy it’s knowing your worth. Warehouse jobs need to start at least 20 an hour for the hours they work you and how much on your body it is. I don’t disagree bc I looked for months for a job that wasn’t minimum wage. Found the post office. Got in thru the warehouse. I’ll work the holiday season then move on to a different position that pays more and it’s not the warehouse. They pay us so much less than the others as an MHA (warehouse) it’s crazy the work we do. BUT during the holiday season the overtime makes it worth it. Only way I’m making it thru is knowing that it’s temporary and everything else is nice it’s quiet there and they don’t micromanage at my location. Just my body feels horrid at the end of the day. That check with be worth it tho! Better than minimum wage. Next position I’ll be making more doing less.
