This series had prefect timing.i am prepering to go overthere to get family members out.i am adjusting my kit at the moment .One tip if you don't speak Ukrain get a letter in Ukrain telling what you are doing there.(no locaties or names).As most young people speak english but al lot don't.

In OIF I kept a SAPI plate in my "Laptop sleeve" of my backpack (I had a 20 liter Osprey). I was over there as a Civilian, and wore 511s and Hawaiian shirts so I wouldn't be mistaken for a soldier. The Hawaiian shirt also covered my issued Baretta 9mm (very tough to conceal carry that monster). Cheers, Mate.

That's pretty much my daily bag great minds and all that. I have the Olight version of the right angle headlamp that's awesome and I carry a small light weight head lamp in my med kit for hands free working on myself or patient congratulations on the course. Did mine 30 odd years ago 👌

First off, great vid as usual. Very thorough and some great ideas I wouldn’t have thought of. That said, I don’t think this would work for me and this is why. At 24lbs, it’s very light for all the capability it gives but I would find it too heavy to carry while I did a 12 hour day, so I’d have to put it down while I work. That creates 2 problems, one is that I may not have it to hand when I hear gunfire or people being arrested nearby and have to leg it out the back. The other is that theft is a fact of life and it might not stay wherever I put it, so for that reason, I’d go with a three layer strategy, pockets, haversack and backpack/carry bag combo. In my pockets I’d keep a leatherman, a basic survival tin (compass matches, sewing etc) a protein bar, headlamp, water bag, small power bank, passport, phone, money etc. In the haversack I’d keep 5-6lb of stuff to get me through one night that I would carry everywhere while I worked including 300g of trail mix (almost 1 day’s calories), a pint of water, the SOL bivvy, a water filter, gloves, scarf, beanie, socks, a first aid kit (just like yours), a proper power pack, AC USB adapter, car USB adapter and some safety glasses to protect my eyes when bombs are going off and bits of glass are flying around. The rest of the stuff you mentioned would go into two bags with a couple of additions. The first bag would be a civvy backpack of about 30L to which I’d add another 4kg of food (minimum 2000kj per 100g), meaning I’d have 5kg of food, 10 days’ worth. From what I’m hearing of the situation in Ukraine at the moment, the Russians are cutting off supplies and there are food shortages so it’s a real possibility that you could get stranded without resupply for a decent period of time. I’ve also heard plenty of refugees talk of walking 100km to get to safety. I’d want capacity to cover that. Any of the bulky but light clothing and shelter items would go into a gym style bag (to keep it all inconspicuous) to which I’d add a sleeping bag (about 1 more kg). That lot should mean my total weight is about 36lbs, but I could go ten days if I could find water and wouldn’t freeze. Also, there are three things I’d add to the kit, a pair of safety glasses, to prevent eye injury if I was being shelled. The other is Leuko tape. It’s a sports tape a bit like a very sticky Elastoplast without the gauze pad. It’s the best thing I’ve ever used for blisters because it pretty much won’t come off till you take it off. A week is no problem. I’d also add a thermos. The weather is still pretty cold there and a thermos means that water isn’t going to freeze in your bottle and you could even cut down how often you need to cook or have a hot drink at 3am when you really need it. It would add a half pound, but I think it would be worth it. The backpack and bag combo may not be there when I need them, but they’d be by my bed at night and with me whenever in transit. My pockets and haversack would be on me all the time and hopefully be just enough to keep me alive in an emergency where I have to run when I’m not expecting it. Just my thoughts. As you’ve frequently said, everyone needs to adapt things to what works for them. Keep up the great vids. I'm really enjoying them.

Cracking video Tom, as ever on the ball. We have a family from Ukraine living nearby the they have told us what things are like over there, even got shelled by the border on the way out (so your warning of be careful and danger even without going into Ukraine was spot on). I would only add a couple of Price's Tea Light 8hr candles (Prices usually better quality) as you may need light from them, or warmth in winter within your escape bivvy you can use one on some bark carefully to heat yourself up and dry out (you know this anyhow) but having used that method following a dry bag fail with a sleeping bag inside worth a though and not too heavy to carry.

Good content..Purely a personal addition but I would carry tucked away at the bottom of my bag my National Flag. If approaching a group that I was 100% sure was friendly, I would display the flag. Remember, I would be the grey man and showing the flag may prevent some armed civvy, Reservist or twitchy soldier potting me because they couldn't identify me.

I assume not everyone will be killed by the initial blasts/shock waves, so assuming one survives that, what's the best thing todo or be thinking about next ?

One bit you said at 17:55 seems to contradict, i would argue that with grayman, if someone has bad bo smells unwashed, they might be remembered by anyone the encounter, might stick in mind more. so if any pursuers are asking have you seen this person, it might make you more memorable. so I would add hand sanitizer bottle, can use as deodorant and also help with fire lighting and of coarse to help prevent you getting sick. Also if you are trying to hitchhike, someone who smells bad might not get a lift, or be offered shelter.accomodation,

I get your point, but what l’m saying is deodorant etc will create an unnatural smell that may give you away if you’re in the wilderness. I doubt you’re going to refused a lift based on your smell in these kind of circumstances.

On selection they had to run separate courses so that non airborne troops could learn about navigation and living out in the Khuds. I mean infantry not just other arms. KZbin productions with source media of let's say a camera or desktop/game console realistically need to be recorded and uploaded at 80-100mbps+ (0.8-1GB/Min 80-100GB/Hour) in the AVC/H.264 or HEVC/H.265 codec for 1080p and for 4k 100-200mbps are normal bitrates for initial recording editing then compressing down for distribution i.e YT upload. Basic Practice, you should always make sure your camera(s) is recording at the highest it can do for bitrate and resolution and keep to whatever framerate is ‘’broadcast region legal’’ i.e 25/50p for PAL or 50hz power nations and 30/60p or 60hz for NTSC regions (Basically 50hz Europe and 60hz North America) this is to prevent power line flickering affect most modern cameras can compensate but its a good habit that prevents issues. Editing Software, I believe your main issue is probably some basic editor and or no clue how to use its potential so I just will flat save you long term time wastage and recommend just pirating or buying Davinci Resolve Studio it's easy to use step by step workflow and works on every platform and offers everything to industry-standards but is also cross software compatible allowing for anyone to help or use of any other software suits tools in your workflow. The Final Export, when exporting media to the final file before upload, is where most people make their grave mistake losing the quality potential of their initial media before KZbin butchers it for streaming simply more data better but to save time confusion and effort I would recommend exporting your videos in the following settings for a visually lossless final file and that being your final ‘’export’’ witch you should always save for re-use on other platforms like Odassy or future content. Format: Quicktime Codec: DNxHR Type: DNxHR SQ Resolution: 3840x2160 Frame Rate: 50p Audio Settings Codec: Linear PCM Sample Rate: 48000 Bit Depth: 24 But what about all this storage space? Delete the files are after use? No! Go buy some 8-14TB WD easystore/element or equivalent Seagate drives or get whatever Google Workspace plan has shared drives and only store data in those unlimited shared drives not the ‘’my drive’’ so for 200GBP/y either way it's cheap for maintaining a baseline production quality with the ability to move to other platforms or make new content with older footage.
