HLB uses Digitech Whammy pedals live to be able to perform these songs due to the tuning changing constantly. The whammy is midi controlled and automatically pitches either up or down for parts of riffs, entire riffs or entire songs. The pedal is included in the video to demonstrate how much it is actually doing. The tuning of the guitar is still 'E B E A Ab A' but it changes a lot. So anyone asking for tabs or tuning is still not going to be able to perform a lot of HLB songs I'm afraid.

Must help y'all be super tight as a band if you're running a system that changes depending on certain parts of a song. Half a second is enough to throw the timing way out. Man, props to you. This is killer.

still some of favourite guitar work out there! the whammy is insane, gotta look into one for sure. hopefully a tab will still pop up eventually :p definitely on my list to learn
@barakahfactor4 жыл бұрын
I would still buy tabs just for learning and analyzing the composition. And I don't think anyone will try to do a live cover, but for someone doing a YT cover, it will be processed on the computer anyway (so the midi mappings aren't needed). Selling tabs is an extra income opportunity for the band, and it's up to them to determine if it's worth investing in.

Pretty much one of my favorite songs at the moment. I've been playing death metal guitar for 30 years now (mid tempo lately and death/doom), but am just now discovering thall. It has already had an influence on my songwriting and overall approach to playing, and guitar tone, in just the last few months. Love this band. Also, thanks to a tutorial from Buster, I now know the benefits of throwing in an EQ before the amp in the signal chain. Never thought of that before. Makes a HUGE difference in clarity. I really need to know how that first riff in Vittring is done though. I can't figure it out. That backwards sounding palm mute effect is SICK AF. Is it studio magic? Or a strange technique?
@mattcarey93983 жыл бұрын
most likely studio trick. in logic at least, there's an option to reverse audio in the region inspector, i'm sure other daws have this feature too. I would play a palm mute, cut it where you want the reverse to start, copy/paste it right after and reverse. And probs crossfade if you get a click/pop sound
@belcarra2 жыл бұрын
I guess you could do some volume knob shenanigans to try and do that live but yeah it's a studio effect
