Can't speak for his live stuff, but I am so glad to see people mentioning the vocals on HLB. So much focus on the absolute filth of those downtuned guitars that people forget just how good they are. Yeah he doesn't do anything groundbreaking but holy shit his vocals are the most feral and primal lows I have ever heard. I mean go listen to the song Earthless at about 3:15 into the song. Idc about production or vocal technique that shit sounds like the earth's tectonic plates opening up and something very old and something very angry screaming into space. Swedish people are just built different. I love this band so much it is unreal.

This band consistently gives me far and away the most cathartic experience I've ever had listening to music. I feel such conflicting emotions listening to them. Their music feels so foreboding to me and makes me so uncomfortable (in the best way) that I can do nothing but put my body in defensive postures: shoulders up to my ears, arms in front of my face as if to protect it, constantly stimming just to let out some of the discomfort I'm feeling... but at the same time I _groove_ through the entire track. And when it ends I feel a huge release of emotion that no other music has given me. They have boldness to never give you that release in the music, to only give it by ending the music and it _works._ These guys are incredible at what they do. Their music is unadulterated, visceral catharsis.

Is it just me or is the mix even better than Välde? It feels more punchy for sure, and a little more clarity. Still absolutely no harshness in the mids but still retains the good kind of harshness needed for a gritty sounding metal track. Thank you for such a masterfully mixed song Buster, I can't tell you how often I get frustrated with poorly mixed Metal, you never disappoint.

@@Rohrerprod. Thanks a ton, dude! You're absolutely right, in that genre I can't think of anything else that sounds better in my ears. I understand if someone doesn't like the mix or the music in general, and I also think it's great that not everybody's work sounds the same. But Buster is just a wizard when it comes to this brutal sound, hands down. Not only his playing/writing on drums and guitar is amazing, but the whole production and sound engineering is also top notch. And on top of that - Vildhjarta and HLB are really original in their style. Their guitar tunings and usage of pitch shifting allows them to cover new grounds. Just imagine a Meshuggah album produced and mixed by Buster with Mick Gordon as a guest... Yeah, can't wait for a new Fredrik album. His input/output is missing. I love all the guys in Meshuggah, but his stuff is just pure magic to me.
