Thank you for this, I really enjoyed seeing everyone's colours and hearing your conjecture about where we will go next. I think we will have more smaller sections next...

I’m not participating in this year’s MKAL but have knitted three of Stephen’s MKALS and have loved them all. I’ve learned so much from him and his tutorials are superb. However, your zoom get together’s are brilliant. The energy and anticipation that Stephen creates every MKAL is incredible. I’ve loved everyone’s project tonight. I’m like Martin in his view on brioche. I love it but can’t correct mistakes and as my first attempt on brioche was on Shawlography so after realising my mistake I decided to knit that section in the alternative stitch. Our “ Mr West” has become a global phenomenon. XAngela thank you so much for this zoom I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.❤

The last zoom made me check my stash and a small fiber show was happening today. I discovered a new to me yarndyer and bought skeins that could become this mkal shawl. Thank you again for hosting this mkal community. It really helps in this difficult time.

Thanks again for zooming it is much appreciated and great to see how you are going and getting tips and tricks from the speedy knitters. I am also “enjoying my pace and the knit” as per Martin. Thank you both for doing this xx

Irina, you’re not alone. I thought the fiddly section 1 would never end! Instead of waste yarn (leading to more fiddliness) I used one spare circular to hold everything. Then at the end I could just start knitting the bubble section.

The trick to barber cords I’ve found is to sort of pinch your yarn below the cord and lift it up which helps to open the stick so it doesn’t stick to the cord and moves more freely back onto your needle. It took a while fi4 me to figure out how to use the barber cords without being super frustrated. Especially with sweaters. Trying them on knitting some and having to go back on the needles. Once I figured that out. I love barber cords. The reason .i like barber cords is when your stitches are on hold for sleeves the stitch size stays closer to the size of needles and cords. So it’s not so obvious where you had your stitches on hold on your sleeves. That’s a huge pet peeve about putting anything on hold. I find that line very disruptive to the finished sweater. I know we are talking about shawls but barber cords are important for knitting. I bought a core of them from Amazon. So .i can make as many as I need and make them any length I need. The money I have saved by purchasing that spool is fantastic. it’s very interesting to see how some people shawls are much larger than others. It makes me appreciate the difference between a loose knitter and a tighter knitter. My goodness if you are a loose knitter your shawl will be ginormous. Love these zooms and seeing all the color choice’s. I think these zooms are quite interesting. Thanks everyone.

I bought a spool as well. It came very handy with this shawl

I do love these zooms and being part of a big community. I do have knitting friends, but none participate in the MKALs. I also love Martyn's reaction to Irina's progress at 7:48 😂 Irina, your questions are always insightful. Thank you both ❤❤❤for coordinating the virtual meet ups. I look forward to them and hope that work does not get in the way!

I’m also working on Starflake, and am down to the border. So if there’s brioche, I’m all warmed up. I first learned to knit English style, and do brioche knit rows continental, and purl rows English.
