Yeah very odd ...at one point we have the Earth military saying they couldn't win then super dreadnought decloaks and kicks the alien fleet into next week which made little sense

You might want to look up 'cancellation waves' , 'inverted waves' , ' and/or 'destructive waves.' If they know the frequency and amplitude of an incoming attack they can counter it with an inverted/destructive wave and cancel it out. Furthermore, if it is a particle beam based weapon, then the particles can also be deflected by a counter particle beam that reduces the number of particles getting through enough such they do little or no damage.

@@KDarkmoon1 yeah, requiring a weapon on par with the incoming beam. That would make it a 'main battery' weapon, NOT point defense, hmm?

@@swiftmatic The story says that the human's weapons were far more powerful than the invaders. So what may be mere point defense class weapons for the human dreadnought could conceivably match the alien main weapons. Furthermore, if their point defense weapons were built to counter enemy main batteries they can be built to such spec. And finally, they don't have to match the power exactly. Even at half the power they'd reduce the enemy weapons to half-strength which would allow the shields to withstand far more fire.

in the dark forrest I doubt battles would happen like this... no matter what Cixin says... theres always a bigger beast in the dark forrest... you dont go starting wars as any enemy will announce where you live... in fact I think you will find that even he admits that when earth was about to be wipped out, that the final plan would be earths sun surrounded by a disk of matter that would announce where the enemy lived in code for the rest of the universe... flashed out in a disk of increase and decrease in light levels...

Not well written as it gives no reason for why the Humans hid their true might. Nor does it give any extension that would have come from them destroying an Empires Armada. Can't really imagine that being ignored by arrogant elitist in charge of that Empire lol. Other than that it comes off like an enjoyable b rate movie!
