I enjoyed Code 8, but it felt like it could have been constructed a lot more tightly. Probably the standout example of that is the healer: for the life of me, I don't know why she was in the film, and her presence actually creates some problems. In no particular order... -How is her power useful to Marcus? Her 'healing' is a 1-to-1 transfer of injuries/illnesses from one person to herself, and Marcus apparently uses her to roll back some kind of chronic lung problem...but for some reason, the only time we see her ever cough is when she was actively healing him. On a similar note... -...why is anyone impressed by her power? If we had seen her take Connor's cut from his arm, and then saw it rapidly knit itself back together once it was on her body (ie, some low-tier Wolverine healing factor) then that would be one thing. It might be painful for her to take injuries from others, and even explain her drug dependence (kind of like how Painkiller Jane has a massive healing factor...but it doesn't make the injuries hurt any less, hence the habit she got the name from), and make forcing her to use her power a far more interesting moral dilemma. If the act of healing Connor's mother would have been horrific but nonfatal agony, then it turns it from 'Would you take a random but innocent life to save a loved one?' to 'Would you torture a random but innocent life to save a loved one?' The latter seems to have a lot more potential as a moral dilemma. But regardless, that brings me to the next issue... -...which is that her presence needlessly complicates the end of Connor's arc. The entire reason he went into crime was for money to pay for medical treatments for his mother despite her opposition, and it ended with him choosing to respect her wishes and let her pass peacefully rather than resorting to increasingly immoral acts in the name of saving her. The healer was completely unnecessary to that arc, as described. The fight in the garage ended with Marcus dead and Garret on his way to filling the criminal void left behind. It seemed pretty clear that, if Connor wanted to, he would have been welcome in Garret's new organization, probably as his second-in-command if not outright partner. All we needed was for Connor to part ways with Garret, go to the hospital to have one final conversation with his mother before she passes, and then turn himself in. There's a fair amount of other stuff unrelated to her, but most of it comes down to stuff that felt like it should have either been given more thought, or left on the cutting room floor. Still liked the movie, though, and I'll probably watch the miniseries spinoff that's in the words.

As long as they could control their power, they should be able to do anything a regular human does. Also, realistically, I think superpowered citizens would have been very useful for either the military or law enforcement. The fact that the movie does not seem to utilize them to the same extent as how criminals does is just... weird??

People would be afraid because they couldn’t control them, likely they would use them for the military in a suicide squad type fashion. Step out of line and your head explodes deal. So who actually wants to do that? They would never just willing accept them across the board because of fear.

DC's Injustice & X men deals with such things. Ordinary citizens like Me aur you would be afraid if let's say 10-20% of citizens turns out to be Superhumans. We would be the first to demand a curb on their powers, laws regulating their Personal life & maybe even want them to be confined at a single place (Like Ymir subjects in AOT)

This was a great movie. It started out as a youtube fan video (I know the video came out LONG before the movie did) and I think it caught enough attention that someone with deep pockets decided to fund it. It turned out great.

Basically my hero academia if robots were militarized instead of being used for training heros

This was one of the best movies I ever watched, it puts an interesting twist on “the good honest citizen resorts to crime because drastic situation”

It funny that from one street shot, I knew this film was filmed in Toronto even that it was not a downtown shot.

If y'all have watched The Flash/Arrow (Warner) you might know that Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow [Garret in this movie]) is the cousin of Robbie Amell (Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm [Connor in this movie])

I’m surprised the government wouldn’t have specific roles designed for supers to fill and have appropriate payment of said roles for example Rhino would be excellent on the police force as a lead entry man in clearing buildings as it puts normals at no risk of harm.
