In 2020 I will be vlogging my experiences with wool. You’re going to follow me along as I learn about wool and by the end of 2020 I hope to share wool 101 information!
Thank you Dawn for sending these. I’m excited to use these and vlog my experience ❤️
⭐️You can find her shop here: humbird.eu/
💛💛Disclosure 💛💛
These diapers were gifted to me. For 2020 I will be a Humbird partner! This means there will be paid collaborations for future videos.

I just bought a pull up merino wool cover with a pouch inside to hold inserts/padfolded flats from a swedish company (Alma och Olmo). They just seem perfect for my active toddler who never wants to stay still for a change. I just lanolized it and can't wait to try them out today when my toddler comes home from daycare! If I love it, I might get some humbird wool for my 2nd baby due March! The trimness of a wrapped stretchy flat really intrigues me!

Yay we LOVE Humbird!! The only wool I buy is HumBird and occasionally I buy wild coconut wear. We use unicorn wash/ beyond clean and our lanolin and emulsifying cubes come from WCW. 💗🐑

I freakin love wool! Violet wears them overnight every night. She wears it during the day also when her dad or I have her. I’m sooo excited that my sister in law is starting to use them over hybrid fitteds I send. ❤️ we love our humbird wool.

Oh just to add, wool saved our cloth diapering journey. Violet gets rashes after just 2 days in pockets or covers. She needs breathable diapers! Please feel free to ask me anything. I want you to love it too. 😉

Jay's Nest don’t be! It’s sooo easy! It’s like flats, they seem super complicated in the beginning but, then, you just do it and you’re like, wow what was I afraid of? 😂 I promise you’re going to rock this. Humbird is machine washable too! I just do a delicate cycle with my wool wash and lay flat to dry. Super easy! I don’t have the patience to do lano baths so, I do the dry lano method from Christina at fruit of the womb came up with. Makes wool even easier and I’ve never had an issue with it. Look up dry lano on youtube to see just how easy it can be. 😉

Oh man I love my wool cover! Lanolin is the best diaper cream and moisturizer. I use it on my face cheeks when I go out in the cold wind.

Love seeing you venture into wool! I'm a huge fan of using natural fibers for cloth diapering. I have some tips for using wool covers on my channel. Excited to see how your experience goes! Most of us end up loving wool. 💜 Heidi

I’m pretty wool curious too. Since willow is our last (husband had a vasectomy recently) it’ll be fun to actually learn about wool. I’ve always been intimidated by it, but my days making cloth diaper related videos are limited since willow will potty train soon. I figured it would be fun to learn how to use wool ❤️

@@JaysNest definitely! I might dabble in fleece before I jump full fledged into wool. Baby #2 is 13.5mo and is starting to show signs and interest on the potty. I do think it will be a while before she's fully potty trained but if she shows us she has to go we aren't going to ignore it. If that makes sense. I do hope to have more babies I just don't know when it if my husband is convinced lol

Ahhh so excited!! I ended up trying wool last year after I realized my youngest (willows age) is allergic to pul. However, his poop has always been explosive so every time he pooped it would go out the back of the flat and onto the wool. It was so so frustrating lol so we switched to pockets with him. Also, side tip you dont NEED emulsifying cubes. You can really use a little bit of baby soap. Much cheaper lol
@JaysNest
@JaysNest 4 жыл бұрын
Agh, a pul allergy must be hard. 😞 Do you find wool to be a pain to wash/dry? I imagine they take awhile to air dry lol. And thank you for the tip 👏🏼

@@JaysNest it wasnt bad. What made it difficult was having to do it daily 🙄. I would get a big bowl of water about the temp of a baby bath with a little wool wash or baby soap and soak it then gently work the wool and soap around in the water and treat any problem areas on the wool very gently with a little more soap. Drain it and mix up your lanolin bath (tip: after melting your lanolin in hot water put ice cubes in it to cool down to the same temp of the bowl of water before adding it to the clean bowl of water so the lanolin doesnt clump back up) just use enough water to cover the wool so it's more concentrated with the lanolin. This water should also be the same temp of a baby bath. (You dont want the water too hot or too cold. It can shock your wool) I would always soak my wool in the lanolin bath for about 4hrs to make sure it was good and coated! But I have heard others say they soaked it for an hour and it was fine 🤷‍♀️ I would hang my wool on a clothes rack above an air vent to dry and usually the thinner ones dried almost overnight and the thicker ones would be dry by the next morning. Also, if your spin cycle on your washer doesnt add any water after you lanolize your wool you can toss it in there to get as much water as you possibly can out of it which really helps with dry time! I may break the wool back out and try it now that his poop is less explosive 😂

So exciting! I really want to try wool. I'm going to try making a cover from some 100% wool sweaters I bought second hand.
@JaysNest
@JaysNest 4 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard of people doing that and that sounds like a fun project! I’m not that thrifty 😂 I do want to learn how to sew though. My mother is a seamstress and id love to do little fun projects like that. Does the sweater have to be a certain percentage of wool in order for it to work?
@ashleyb7752
@ashleyb7752 4 жыл бұрын
@@JaysNest to my understanding, it has to be 100% wool. You can also use water resistant fleece, like the kind you would use for a cloth pad backer. It doesn't breathe as well as wool and if it gets pee on it, you have to wash it but it doesn't require lanolizing.
@breedeardorff5782
@breedeardorff5782 4 жыл бұрын
@Jay’s Nest it actually only needs to be 80% wool or higher. The other 20% just can’t be anything that is absorbent like cotton or it will absorb moisture instead of repelling it ☺️

I LOVE WOOL! I’ve never used this brand before. We use mainly Truly Charis, K.I. baby blues, and Yooki. We use prefolds, GMD fitteds, and flats under our wool. I was afraid if lanolizing at first but now I actually love doing it. It’s like a fun science project lol. In my Instagram saved video thing I have a category on how I lanolize if you want to look at it @shelbi.aaren I know there are tons of videos online as well.

I have been WAITING for someone to do a KZbin video about wool and STRICTLY using wool. I purchased 6 wool covers that are one size. All snaps for adjusting size. There are just NO videos about them or “a day in the life” types of videos. Hoping someone who has a newborn and does use wool sees this and can do a video.

I wanted to do wool so much and I got used wool covers (Sloomb) before my baby was born, but they had no stretch and even in the first few weeks, trying to use them (size S and size M), I couldn't get them past my baby's knees. So I gave up. I'm fairly certain they would have been too big around her waist, but they wouldn't go up.

Save the liquid from lanolysing (spelling?) fill it in. A spray bittle. When you have just small areas that needs cleaning you can respray that area and don‘t have to do the whole thing

I’ve watched a few videos about drying and how wool can shrink horribly if it’s thrown in the dryer lol 😱 I’ll have to be really mindful when washing to make sure they don’t get thrown into the washer and dryer.
