Small Correction: The First Edition of the NLT SonRise will offer art gilding. From here on it will be discontinued. All paste downs have been discontinued already.

@williamcool49106 сағат бұрын
@@mnsohseven the reason I changed mine is because I don’t think the green art gild is going to complement all the blue drop caps and chapter breaks very well. I think the fore-edge is a better choice for this particular Bible. That’s just my opinion. I can’t wait to get it!

I ordered my NLT in Sahara Blue and look forward to receiving it. I have a Shepherd NKJV in the Orange semi-Yap and have two with full Yap in the Green and the Aspen Gold. Love the format and the leather.

I already bought it on Preorder during the sale. I didn't get it when it was on Kickstarter because I wasn't sure whether or not NLT is too dynamic of a translation but, at the end of the day, I decided that it's a very pretty Bible and I do struggle when reading other more difficult translations. I bought the Sahara blue fore-edge gilt.

I really want one of these in the kjv or nkjv but it’s a lot for a Chinese printed bible. It would be cool to see an apocrypha edition too. The blue and drop caps are amazing no one is doing this, also they may have found the Perfect layout for references and translator notes honestly.

I pro-ordered Sahara blue with art gilt. Was struggling to decide if i should get art gilt or get the fore edge to match my Aspen Gold NKJV Shepherd Refresh since that wasnt offered in Art gilt but in the end decided to get the art gilt and im so glad it did! Though does that mean they will stop art gilt for the other versions too? I plan on getting the Olive Green JKV Lion with art gilt!

Any idea on what the difference is between Meritian goatskin and full grain goatskin? I'm wondering if it was just a marketing thing.
@anickelsworthbiblereviews11 сағат бұрын
The grain is different, the sheen is different, and it stamps differently. Full grain is the most premium part of the hide, aka the outermost part. It is also considered the most natural and durable.

My issue with the art gilt (beyond being just generally flashy) is that it makes the pages seem busier. With the cross references, notes, and art it can get VERY overwhelming and the art gilt vs color gilt adds to that. Disappointing to see that inside gutter and split liner. Since its made in China I don't understand the need to cut costs there. IMO no Bible at this price should have such an obvious cost cutting measure. I would rather see them up that quality game vs cramming more content. I wish them the best but they are quickly moving away from anything I want. Great review as usual!!
@anickelsworthbiblereviews6 сағат бұрын
I think you'd be amazed at how much it costs to have a bible made from concept to print, regardless of where it is printed.
@jfb34156 сағат бұрын
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews For sure! And I am honestly not trying to be too harsh but at their price they are in direct competition with the best out there and none of them (that I can think of) at that price point have split liners. Especially disappointing since the NKJV refresh had it. Its a back step.

I ordered the Forest Green SonRise on Kickstarter. It is my fifth Humble Lamb purchase. But unlike you, Tim, I am not quite so forgiving about printing errors and flaws - whether it's a First Edition or not. When you pay a premium price for a premium Bible, you should receive a premium product. I must be honest and confess that I feel burned by the printing errors in the NASB2020 HIStory Bible, and so now I am twice shy. But upon receipt of my Sahara Blue NKJV Shepherd Refresh recently, I unhappily discovered the same printing error in Numbers 34:14 that was in my older Shepherd paste down. And this after Humble Lamb assured me back in November 2023 that they were aware of the printing error and that it would be corrected in the next print run. I am very disappointed because this is unacceptable. Where is Humble Lamb's quality control? Is no one checking for errors? I have purchased fourteen premium Bibles from Cambridge over the years, and not one of them is flawed in any way. Call me overly fussy if you like, but if the SonRise contains any printing errors or flaws, then I am done with Humble Lamb.
@anickelsworthbiblereviews13 сағат бұрын
I get it. But, I have found errors in Schuylers, Cambridge, and Allan. Schuyler had a drop cap with the wrong letter, a word completely misspelled, and even an edition with an entire signature repeated (they recalled that one). Cambridge had an edition with a page from Mark in Matthew. Allan had a few misspellings in an ESV. Most publishers use a hired company to proofread, but even still then it is all humans prone to small mistakes.
@guymontag34912 сағат бұрын
@@anickelsworthbiblereviews I've had binding and gold gilt edge page problems in my two Schuyler PSQ's, but I've never seen a problem with any of my Cambridge's. Which Cambridge had the problem you describe, Tim? I'd be curious. As for R.L. Allan, I haven't been lucky enough to afford one just yet, but hope springs eternal!

I very nearly ordered it, but due to the extra surprise of a high tax added to the cost and postage to the UK (which was fine, I expected that) it just made the price that much too expensive for me 😢 I was really disappointed as it was the NLT that brought me to Christ.
@anickelsworthbiblereviews13 сағат бұрын
Overseas shipping, customs, and taxes can really make an expensive thing even more expensive for sure.
@biblepilgriminspirepraisew804413 сағат бұрын
@ They certainly can…and you have so many great Bible publishers over there! I’m not really sure why tax was added…I always thought printed matter, i.e. books didn’t have tax added. Perhaps they think a Bible is a luxury item? I know when I used to buy a Christian home education curriculum from the USA that we weren’t charged tax, and my son who is now educating his daughter and buying the curriculum hasn’t had to pay tax. Sorry perhaps a longer explanation than you needed. Hopefully it will be reduced again sometime and be slightly more affordable 😊. Blessings to you, I enjoy your videos and have right from when you first started your channel.

Pretty pricey for a so-so commentary calling itself a translation. For me I just add the csb or niv to my kjv/nkjv rotation . After a few years you get a very good understanding. Memorizing in the KJV is where it’s at. I like that Lion.
