A few other tutorials, I've seen them pop the bowls in the freezer before using it. Therefore when they start the whipping, it counteracts the heat generated during whipping.

Great tutorial. My whipped body butters usually come out fine but this last batch has been a disaster. Using shea, cocoa butter and apricot oil and a little arrowroot plus essential oils, I do the heat then fast cooling method, But what's happened is that the surface has hardened but the rest is too sloppy to form soft peaks. So I keep adding more cocoa butter. I think I might divide the mixture and work with it smaller batches as you suggested. I hope this solves this issue. Thanks

The problem is all these recipes out there DON'T tell you how long you should whip the butters
@KelnKev Жыл бұрын
Right that's what I want to know is how long to whip the butters
@ambermartin111710 ай бұрын
I’ve heard to whip anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on how much oils you are whipping, and that the longer the better, but then I watched a video today and the gal was saying to be careful not to over whip it …. That it can get clumpy if it’s over whipped. Too confusing
@Stravv8erry4 ай бұрын
That’s right. I heard up to 30 mins as well. Mine just went harder in the fridge but as soon as I whip it it goes lotion-y. My first body butter went hard. I give up 🥲

I bought some African Shea butter a few years ago and has been kept in a cool, dark closet area. I’ve finally got myself revved up to try making my own creams again. My question is: the Shea butter I have is solid and looks fine but smells slightly off, almost like cooking oil when it goes rancid. Is it okay to use since I’ll be adding an essential oil or should I buy new butter?? Thank you

Hey my love if I whip my body buttter already but want to have it a little more firm can I just add the coco butter melted or I have to melt everything up again then add the coco butter.

@humblebee&Me I would love to know if I can fix it and how to fix my body butter. I made one with 8 oz shea butter (partially melted with a double boiler), 3 tbsp jojoba, 3 tbsp rosehip oil, 2 tbsp Aloe Vera gel and, ten capsules of Vitamin E, a few drops of essential oil. I left it in the freezer for about half an hour; everything looked good. It looked creamy while blending but NOT fluffy. After a few hours in the container, it turned into a hard cream rather than a light and fluffy butter. I’m curious about what might have caused this and, even more so, how I might fix it. Could you please help?
@HumblebeeAndMeАй бұрын
Hi! Generally, it sounds like you have too much solid stuff and not enough liquid stuff for your ambient temperature. Check out this video to learn more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYjEgGirfJqmj7c. I am also concerned about the aloe vera gel in your formulation. Aloe vera gel is mostly water, so it doesn't mix well with fat without an emulsifier (which your DIY does not have), and it can cause the product to mold without a proper preservative (which your DIY also does not have) 😕 In the future, avoid DIYs that call for aloe vera gel as an ingredient in body butters unless they contain an emulsifier and preservative. For now, I would attempt to remove it by melting the product and cooling it in the fridge; the oils should float to the top and solidify, leaving the aloe/water behind at the bottom. Remove the oils and discard the aloe. From there you can try incorporating more liquids and re-whipping. Happy making!

Hi, Marie. Does arrow root powder and IPM serve the same purpose in formulations? Also, is it a good idea to replace the arrow root with the IPM?
@HumblebeeAndMe Жыл бұрын
They both help reduce oiliness/greasiness, but it is never a good idea to replace a powder with a liquid or vice versa :) You'd have to do some re-development if you did that.

@@HumblebeeAndMe I wouldn’t know. I got it from a company and it came like that. I tried searching Google, YT etc. couldn’t find a single thing about it. A friend thinks it’s because it has water as a filler and the company got it factory made so it comes un scented and then one melts it and adds fragrance. In this case this is what happened; it turned into a glob.

Can we add oils to the too hard batch or do we have to start over?
@vaslim17112 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t the finished body butter melt in shipping, even if you do the freeze, whip, freeze method? Correct me if I’m wrong but if it doesn’t hold its shape in the beginning of mixing and it requires the Freeze/ whip method to get it to whip up and hold shape, wouldn’t it ultimately go back to its natural mixed fluid state? I hope this makes sense
@HumblebeeAndMe2 жыл бұрын
Shipping isn't the issue; heat is :) You can learn more here: Why is my body butter melting?: www.humblebeeandme.com/why-is-my-body-butter-melting/ Partner video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2mrqHagqKdlaaM
@ShaniOnSinai Жыл бұрын
What she means is during shipping it is exposed to heat, I don’t think she’s saying the shipping itself melts the body butter. This could also occur during storage etc.

Whip air in is to build a structure, certain oils and butters take too much strength from and can add too much strength to it’s structure, integrity perfect tech is hard to acheave for me anyways.
