Absolute pressure is better when tuning the vehicle that adjusts load and fueling based on the altitude. You dont need two separate maps and sensors to determine the actual engine load that is being produced compared to the reference map for requested load. Just simplifies a variable.

Good heads up on the OBD plug. A year after I bought my car I was using a bluetooth OBD reader, keeping it plugged in all the time. By that time my factory battery was 3 years old, and just was not up to snuff. My suggestion, if your getting this and you haven't replaced the battery in a few years, may be a good idea to replace the battery as well.

Hey VW experts. I’m in need of some desperate help. I have a 2013 VW Tiguan. It’s a 1.4 tsi, check engine light came on. I scanned it and it has only 2 codes. P2178, and P2188. Engine running too rich at idle bank 1. The car starts, runs and drives perfectly, there is no smell of fuel at the exhaust, car doesn’t hesitate or anything. It’s rather strange! I took out both MAP sensors, sprayed them with MAF/MAP spray, let the air dry. After much frustration and screaming I took out the “interestingly engineered” coil packs. Removed the spark plugs, they where all the same across the board, all had the same normal carbon build up, no one of them looked cleaner than one another, all normal. No smell of fuel in the spark plug holes, they all looked dry and normal. I looked at some of the OBD parameters, the air fuel ratio at idle was 14.65, the fuel pressure was around 790psi and the O2 sensor was reading. I really need some help from you guys, I’m just an enthusiast and I’m not too knowledgeable in VW specific stuff. Thanks so much everyone I really do appreciate any help and hopefully solving the problem. Anything else u guys need to know to figure it out, please ask. This is the second time writing this out so I’m sorry for any mistakes! 😂

Performance Monitor for VAG (third party app) does pretty much everything the P3 can do. You need a rooted android phone and a BT OBD2 dongle/Torque Pro App. It relays the info from Torque right to the AA Interface/infotainment screen. You can select and choose what data/clock themes you want and everything. Costs far less and is basically what the stock performance monitor should have been.
