Thanks for sharing this. I have purchased a 6’ heavy duty 2” steel hinge which I’m going to build a wooden gate for. My delima is how to recess drill holes? @13:54 you said to stagger the holes & have them 3/8ths of an inch from the edges. The gate is going to swing inboard and I’ve been thinking too much about me installing the hinge in the wrong direction to swing. This is joint to be a heavy hand made 2”X4” gate, it’s height will be 6’ with a 1’-2’ lattice on top. The width will be 48”-50.” It’s going to take several months to a year to construct. In the meantime I am thinking of building a 2”X4”frame with cedar pickets. This can be built quickly but I would like to use the same hinge. Should I recess the hjnge? I’m finally able to put my harbor freight 8” drill press to use. I have limited space for anything larger but I will be able to use it effectively drilling into the hinge. I am also thinking about putting a single caster wheel on the arching side of the gate. All trial and error build for my pre-retirement projects. Thanks for your tips and advice if I’m going overboard. I just like the old school doors that were made of wood. 14:03

Hey thanks for watching if you're gonna have a gate that's that wide I would definitely put a wheel on the bottom of it that's a good idea and as far as mortising in the hinge I wouldn't just in case you want to move it later on or something happens you won't have that to deal with I just attach it right to the face hope it all works out for you let me know thanks again have an awesome day

Thanks for that, I just made a box closed at front and back and ripped a 3” opening and your method works well, but there’s a gap where the hinge is but no gap at the end where it opens ?

If You Want No Gaps Anywhere You Will Need To Mortise The Hinge Into The Box So It Will Sit Flush And Then You Will Have No Gaps Anywhere 😃🤔👍 Thanks For Watching Have An Awesome Day !!!

Video looks good to me so whatever battles you're having with the software it looks like you're prevailing. Good info on hinges as well. Hang in there but you might wanna put a little money aside if reports of social security being insolvent by 2035 are correct. Took mine this year at 62 just in case.

Hey thanks for the feedback I appreciate it. There's always something with new editing programs that you just have to fight through I was so used to using premiere Pro and then moving to da Vinci resolve 18.5 as a whole new ballgame. Hey thanks for watching I'm not really sure what you mean by off the edge. It doesn't matter whether the hinge opens in or out as long as it's even on both sides it should be in the same plane when opened or closed ,so if the hinges a 1 inch hinge and each side is 3/4 an inch screwed into the door on both sides of the hinge when closed The door and what it's hinged to should be flush with each other maybe watch the video again because I show a couple different ways of installing those hinges.
