The humerus and scapula together form one of the most important joints in the Human body: the shoulder joint. They also serve as attachment points for many muscles of the upper limb. Now that you've learned all the important landmarks of these bones, test your knowledge on this quiz: khub.me/b2e00
Oh, are you struggling with learning anatomy? We got the ★ Ultimate Anatomy Study Guide ★ to help you kick some gluteus maximus in any topic. Completely free. Download yours today: khub.me/zlh2h
The arm is the region of the upper limb found between the shoulder and the elbow and consists of one bone, the humerus. Together with the scapula, they form the two main bony elements of the shoulder joint.
The humerus is the longest and largest bone of the upper limb. It articulates with the scapula proximally at the glenohumeral joint, which is a fancy name for shoulder joint. Distally, it articulates with the ulna an radius to form the elbow joint.
The scapula, also known as the shoulder blade, is a flat triangular bone found at the back of the trunk. It lies over the posterior surface of the ribs two to seven. When it articulates with another bone known as the clavicle, the scapula forms the shoulder girdle, which is what connects the appendicular skeleton to the axial skeleton.
In the video we will cover the following:
Overview of the bones of the shoulder, upper arm and forearm. Location of the scapula and humerus in relation to the other bones in that region.
Bony landmarks of the humerus
Bony landmarks of the scapula
Clinical notes related to both bones
Want to test your knowledge on the humerus and scapula? Take this quiz: khub.me/b2e00
Read more on the anatomy of these bones. Starting with an article on the scapula, which includes some relevant clinical points: khub.me/udw66

I did get some nuggets. Thank you for that however, I think it would be more useful. Maybe you have this in some other videos to show both arms. And how the shoulders are connected, and how what would happen if it was disconnected from the stern sternum. I am researching my own dilemma of the right shoulder, popping inward without any trauma to the shoulder to the right shoulder. I keep looking and even saw a surgeon that had no understanding how the left shoulder could pop out the right shoulder, inverted shoulder out of socket. my intuition tells me that that’s possible and my research continues. Because it actually happened to me. Doctors just think they knew it all and when approached with the unknown simply demonstrate the patient must be mistaken or crazy. Lol. If you have any suggestions about this, please mention in the comment. That would be so appreciated with so much gratitude.

What tendons/muscles keep the medial end of the clavicle that connects to the sternum from dislocating? Asking cuz mine dislocates all the time when i stand up straight or extend my arm. broke my right clavicle years ago and i think the area is still atrophied. arent u a doctor? you're supposed to know the shoulder is much more lateral and is more on the front and back and on your arm, not where your backpack is which is the upper trap. can't believe you're a doctor and dont even know what innervations are there.

I have the following problem. When i lift my rightarm sideways after 40 degress my scapula already lifts up togheter with humerus. Normally the scapula tilts at aprox 100/110 degrees i think? So u can see a big lump on my right shoulder when i got my arm at 40 degrees. I cant lift it any further. I had a arthroscopy cause my bursa was inflammated. They removed the bursa completly but cant use my arm properly cause i cant lift my arm higher then 40 degrees. My biceps tendons hurt alot. Does anyone know whats going on? Btw they said i had hagl lesion. Maybe is this the reason my shoulderblade already lifts togheter with humerus at 40 degrees? Its like the humerushead is stuck in the joint and when i try to lift my arm the locked joint tilts scapula with it. Doctors dont know what to do.
