I started with tupperdores. They worked fine kept them in the basement about 62 degrees with boveda 69% packs. About 8 months ago my dad and i built a large cabinet humidor for my collection and it has been awesome. Room temp is 72 degrees humidity is 66 and holds about 1400 cigars. Big difference to me than having a bunch of tupperdores. They smoke fantastic with no issues so far. 2 fans blow through a wicking filter that has 50/50 solution. There are 2 more fans that circulate air every 4 hours for 15 minutes. Best thing i did for my journey.

Two good friends frequently sitting back, having a smoke and a drink, and making some great content for us at home to watch and learn. Love it. My rule of thumb is the same for humidor space as it is for bottle space if you're working on a lounge at home, or hey, even if you're building a garage. "Whatever you think you need, at least double it." At most triple. Typically always works out.

My perfect wife got me an electric humidor from NeedOne, and it is perfect! I got the Spanish Cedar Box Trays, and I get the same beautiful aroma in the electric that I did in my Savoy. It really is set it and forget it, especially having Boveda packs and a Govee Bluetooth hydrometer!

I have the exact setup. 16L Needone that I won from solving a maze on Instagram 😂 2 cedar trays and 1 drawer and the govee up top. Bovida for humidity control. Works great. Only complaint is the condensation drains INSIDE the humidor. Which is a terrible design. So I keep mine at 71° to avoid condensation but I'd prefer 67°.

I have a humidor that I made out of a nicer glass sealing box i found at Walmart with a small grill like rack to allow proper humidofication and a bovida pack i got that came with my cigars. I also got a small humidity and tempature gauge. My setup keeps the humidity great. I keep it at the top of my closet in a dark place and it stays just about at 70° sometimes drops down to around 67° but that's the lowest it gets. I'm really proud of it and it works great for what I need!

Fellows, another great video. For the newcomers it may have been helpful to mention a "25 count" humidor is based on a small ring gauge cigar perhaps a corona or something and NOT a Toro. Also, I am a cabinetmaker and have made custom humidors and unlike most of the commercial market which uses MDF ( glue and wood dust ) or plywood and then overlays nice inner and outer wood I have found my solid wood humidors tend to use more humidification. My favoruite humidors are a Boveda 75 cigar ( no longer made ) and a Northwoods humidor ( same as Boveda but still in production) and they are great with a Spanish cedar tray I usually put in four or five 60 gram boveda packs and they shall last a year ! Not as pretty but much more effective. Perhaps a mention on the hygrometer re-calibration once a year may be helpful to some. Keep up the good work and have a great Philly cheesesteak or hoagie for me tomorrow. Regards from the Big Sky Country ! JZ

Sealed tupidore works for me for storing multiple boxes, 10+, would crack the box open when it's new, place inside for at least a week then close it, and place plenty cedar sheets inside the tupidore along with the bóveda packs and open it once a week for fresh air

I just use a medium size pelican case with a o-ring sealed lid. Boveda 65 packs keep it perfectly at 66-68 and they last forever. I added the Spanish cedar holder from Boveda and attached to the lid. Put in a digital hygrometer and it’s perfect. I’m in it weekly anyway so there’s some air transfer. Humidity is always perfect. I have right at 60 sticks and can probably get another 20 or so in it. 👌

I have two Daniel Marshal humidors that I purchased back in the 90s. The are plain on the outside that fits my decor. The inside is a very thick Spanish cedar - the Boveda packs work beautifully. I think the packs are one of the most revolutionary items for proper storage of cigars. Also, I use a product from Govee that measures the temp and humidity levels on an app connected to my phone. The are perfect and are super easy to monitor the levels inside my humidors. Thanks for the videos guys!

When I bought my humidor I never thought I’d need more than 50, I wish I’d have gone 100 since I’m now buying boxes of cigars. I had a very difficult time getting it set up. My cigar shop said to wipe it down and wait 24 hours then fill it half full and add the bovida packs. Within 2 days it was perfect. I started at 72% then dropped to 69% now I’m at 65%. Living in the south the humidity is high and I’d rather have a drier cigar that will smoke than a wet one that’s a pain in my butt to keep lit or draw on. I bought the savoy in a cherry finish and it’s beautiful. One way to tell if it’s set up right is take a dollar and close the lid on it. It should not pull out easily.

I've been using igloo coolers for years. Boveda 65% packs, can add cedar if you want it. Can fit entire boxes, is insulated, doesn't get too humid, and cigars age incredible. Respectfully, suggesting wood humidors are better just tells me you didn't experiment enough. Wood humidors are a historical abnormality in the history of cigar storage. Historically, airtight solid wall containers have been the norm.

I've found that different cigars burn better at different humidity levels. My Dominicans seem to burn better when kept around 70%, but my Nicaraguan cigars seem to prefer a lower humidity, around 60-62% with Hondurans right in the middle, around 65%. So I started storing mine based on filler origins.

I've got a question for the experts: I'm keeping my (cheap, but effective Tupperware) humidor at 69% RH with Boveda packs. However, summer tends to heat my home to ~80 °F, which gives rise to mold risk since humidity + heat = bad. Now, also given the remarks at 12:45, my question is: would using 65% instead of 69% Bovedas during summer reduce mold risk without going "too dry"?

Hi guys it have a glass top 50 count old montecristo. I live in a humid beach front location and my problem is over humification. It’s always 72-75. I use bovida packs. Even taken them out completely and I cant get the humidity inside down. I store during summer in the bottom of an inside cupboard with no light or air conditioning. Is it the glass top? This humidor must be 40 years or more old.

Try using the 65% Boveda & leaving the humidor where it will get better airflow. Not in direct sunlight but somewhere less stuffy than inside a cabinet. Open it a few times a week to create airflow whether you’re smoking a cigar that day or not. That dry air exchange from the AC should even out your humidity issues. You can also try the dry box approach

What's your thoughts on leaving the cigar in the cellophane when in a cedar humidor?

Cello on. Protects the cigar from being damaged

There have been numerous tests by experts, including the Sahakians in London and they all conclude that you should leave the cellophane on, especially if you're aging your cigars. It protects from damage, isolates cigars in case of mold, helps prevent humidity fluctuations, and preserves the cigar.

You would always buy at least one size bigger humidor haha. At one point I had 6 wooden humidors with about 600 cigars. At some point I traded those in for a big thermoelectric humidor.

Not quite, you want some airflow. It can help add the cedar aroma to your cigars like a humidor would

Your storage needs to be substantially bigger than what you think you need. If you are going with a smaller size because it fits a particular way on your desk, that's fine. But you're eventually going to need more storage. Transfer from your storage to your desktop humidor as needed.

If your humidity is not what you set it at then re-season it.
@ruukusanla
@ruukusanla 8 күн бұрын
Respectfully and not knowing the extent of climate, location, conditions, you rarely ever need to "re-season" The only time that is a clear requirement is if you have to clean it out because of mold or perhaps you abandoned it and it's so dry new water or boveda would be wasted bringing moisture back into it. If you maintain with a check every couple weeks you really won't need to re-season. I've had my wood humidor, seasoned on setting up, wiped it out and it's been 3 years. I run a Tupperware big box from hardware store with a good seal, black so no light UV can be harmful. The Biggest mistake I see is people using cheap seals or clear containers like Sistema, and that's fine, Problem is so people don't put them in a cupboard or closet and they sit on a table or desk in Ambient sunlight.. short term probably ok, long term aging well it can't be beneficial. Anyways hope this helps!

Only if you want it to be. Most folks I talk to and myself just do 62% boveda packs for a storage humidity of 65% since it drifts up with the boveda packs, and I find no need to dry box with that setup.

Not for me it's not. I store and smoke my cigars at 67 C. I like a drier smoke and better burn. Also 67 is a good storage humidy too for long term aging.
