Thank you for your comments. Apologies, no direct experience with H3, the motor itself looks to be a different animal, one imagines the work would be similar.

I just replaced a wiper motor on my buddies 04 H2, and the wipers want to go down into the cowl instead. Any pointers? At this point im stuck.

Sounds very much like the "arm" has been attached in the wrong position. Remove the motor, reconnect and allow it to "home" Refit and align the arm as shown in the video. Not sure if it's possible to detach the arm in place, if you can detach, home the motor then align the blades and re-attach. Good luck!

Our 2005 H2 with 95,000 miles is starting to groan. Did you ever take the old one apart to see what was making the noise?

... ditto mine failed at 81K 4-years ago. I dismantled mine, but only after I'd bought a new one, then discovered the 2 plain solid bearing bushes on the main drive ARM were badly worn. If you're lucky yours could be the same, if so they could probably be drifted-out and replaced, and very cheap too. They look to be 10mm ID x 13mm OD x 10 or 11mm long, Oilite Bushes (at a guess) It's probably best to check 1st, unfortunately you'll have to take out the motor to do it. I was given an old motor to play with, but this one has a bad motor bearing, not so easy to change (at least I haven't found a way yet) One thing I missed out my video was the loud "clunk" that occurred when the wiper-arms changed direction returning from the driver's side. The previous owner had tried packing the splines, but that wasn't the cause, it turned out to be excessive play in the LH bearing of the wiper assembly. The cure (rather than buying a complete new mechanism) was to slice a 1/2" rubber tap-washer on one side then slide it over the shaft so as to keep the wiper blade in contact with the glass. This has been running for 4 years, noise free!

@@hummerfixeswe have the radio staying on after exiting the car. Turning the rear wiper on shuts off the radio. But I did remove the front wiper motor and aside from the bearing noise there is some water intrusion on the corner of the electronic board. I'm trying to just find a new front one and maybe do the rear one.

@@hummerfixes I just got the H2 about 2 months ago and it was like that when I got it ….it does appear that the motor is newer but it seems to be doing exactly what it is supposed to making revolutions as it should and when I look at the wiper transmission it also seems to be doing as it should to but something isn’t right somewhere and it’s got me stumped ….I did send you an email with a video of it in operation Thanks Jody

Thank you for your video, and I hope you received mine, which says the following :- Good news, the motor and linkage look fine. If you watch the video from around the 6s mark you'll see I've overlaid my H2's right-hand wiper "spline" with yours, notice they move by the same amount (it's night time here in the UK, my video was shot juts a few minutes ago) Notice the "notch" in the spline moves from around the 7 0'clock to around 11 O'Clock positions, which is about 120 degrees. This matches the CAD simulation I have here and looks normal. If you clip-in the driver's side wiper-arm it should be impossible to move it by hand i.e. locked in position, if this is true the blade must move the full amount. It would be interesting to see the same video shot with the wiper-arm attached Hope this help resolve your issue...👍

Thank you for your comments which are very welcome. Presumably you are referring to the "cowling" for which I apologize, it is tricky to remove and fit, as I recall there was an focus "sticking" issue and I couldn't use quite a lot of video Also, most of my early are were taken "just for the record" and not specifically with YT in mind. Working and filming alone does make it hard to cover all aspects as I'm sure you'll appreciate. There's the added dilemma that once a job is done and you're at the "editing" stage, often there's no going back to re-shoot if something key is missing. My brake-line replacement video for example, the final stage videos also got corrupted and it's not a job one wishes to do again, BTW most of the videos are taken one-handed on a mobile. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, so many times I wished I could go back and do the work again, however I endeavor to "plan ahead" better, improve each time and try to ensure all the key stages are covered. As you can tell I do monitor my comments and will try to help where I can and I'm always open to questions and suggestions. Hopefully you managed to change your wiper motor successfully?
