Hummer H2 2005 - Transmission Final Fluid Change #4

This the final change provided both the 4th & 5th samples for final analysis - jobe done!
00:00 - Introduction
00:46 - Chapter 1- Truck Level, Engine Hot, in Idle, record Dip Stick level
01:33 - Chapter 2 - Front right wheel on ramp, drain and measure
02:26 - Chapter 3 - Fit Drain Plug, top-up with equal amount of ATF
02:47 - Chapter 4 - Start Engine, de-ramp and run through Gears
03:36 - Chapter 5 - Check fluid sample 4 (3rd Fluid Change)
04:27 - Chapter 6 - Check fluid level, drive 100 miles and take 5th sample
04:50 - Chapter 7 - Compare final samples.
05:29 - Chapter 8 - Final Analysis

how much liters did all the changes combined total to

Thank you for your comment. The estimated value is 18L or 4.8 US Gallons, which equates to 5 x Gallon containers or 19L. The total transmission capacity is 10.6L so its approx. 170% A Quote from GM Service Bulletin 04-06-01-029J "It should be noted that analyses of returned parts that have been exposed to these aftermarket 'flushes' show indications of potential damage and shortened durability shortened durability"

Does it hurt to put a little bit more than transmission fluid in it

Thank you for your comment. Good question and like you I'm learning about Hummers as I go along. GM engineers produced the level limits to provide maximum protection and optimum fluid pressure within the system. The lower limit protects against excessive wear, metal on metal etc. and the upper limit prevents against over-pressure, the creation of air-bubbles and subsequent loss of lubrication. The HOT zone mid-point represents the "sweat-spot" and is measured with the vehicle level, the engine hot and idling. The HOT zone is represents around 1/2 a quart, so its quite a tight limit really. Excessive fluid is hard to extract unless you have a drain plug or a pump, the one used in the video was cheap and an easy way to do this. Unfortunately it's not possible extract enough fluid via the dip-stick to perform an effective oil change. So, in short there is nothing to be gained by over-filling, quite the opposite from the information I've read.
