Ok this was very informative. One drawback that this video has that makes me want to snort a line of fire ants is the ukulele knights of the round table music. I've noticed that more than most of the more informative videos on KZbin have the same type of music that makes a person want to become self destructive 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂 thank you all the same 😇

Thank you for your comments, all feedback is useful and taken in. Music is a tough one, it has to be either paid for or selected from a copyright free source, usually YT's own. Even just a few seconds of music taken from anywhere else may invoke a copyright strike, same goes for images etc. So I agree, it can be nauseous but we do our best to select.

Also can be a good time to remove your transfer case encoder motor and clean it with quick drying electrical connector cleaner and dielectric grease because it is common for them to seize and cause you not to be able to shift between four-wheel drive modes unless you turn off the vehicle then restart.

I thought gm came out with a TSB that said not to use dexron vi but to use something with dexron 3h compatible?

Thanks for your comments. According to the manuals you may be correct, however it's a very much debated point. People "in the know" use VI however GM recommendations may be related to legal changes etc. The recommendations here were based on background research, for example bulletin #04-07-30-037E, however the final choice is up to the user.

IMHO your oil was black; well past service interval. We must change this fluid every 10K as this is AWD and this oil is very thin. As for me, I use synthetic gear oil , I believe 70W 90. I can't advise you do it but I have 280K on my clock with no TCase issues. I change every 20K with fresh gear oil. Even gear oil comes out slightly dark after 20K.

That's what I've been reading in hummer forums, to use 70w-90. I replaced the fluid on the rear axle with 70w-90. 👌

@@bkellewood6317 Ya since it's AWD, don't forget the front axle. I change both front and back axles at 30K with 70w90. Since all those horror stories running Trans fluid, my TCase, I keep at 15K intervals with the same gear oil. Going on 290K with no issues. I can understand using trans fl with the Trans as the frictions need grip. Still don't understand why they don't use Gear lube in the TCase.

That's true, however the GM maintenance manual says VI, and experts I know say the same. There are some online deserters, in the end it's your choice...👍
