Thank you, Paul! I have 2007 H3. My drivers side was flooded with 3” of water. I found your video, and now I am leak free. However, wanted to share with others my scenario. I started with the drivers side(because it seemed the easiest). I squirreled under the wheel and found the tube connection like you mentioned. I got it out and was prepared to melt the stupid restriction but saw it had been already done. I reassembled it and ran a thin clothes hanger wire down the tube from the sunroof, bent into a small “J” shape to get the worst out. The water poured out:). The passenger side was next. It was clogged as well, so I started with the coat hanger. It drained, however the water was coming out of the top of the door jam. I took the sun visor out, pulled down the top panel and saw the drain hose disconnected at the very top. I reconnected it with a bit of super glue, ran the hanger through and now both sides are draining perfectly. Thanks to you!!! I have VERY limited experience in fixing things. Your guidance helped me fix the problem that the GM dealership couldn’t in two visits. You ROCK!!

Thanks much for the kind words. I am not an engineer, but there seems like there has to be a better design as this has affected so many Hummer owners. I feel like there should have been a recall for this problem.

Tried this. Could not find the damn grommet. It just showed up in your hand. I put diluted drain cleaner down the drain holes. It worked awesome. Also put 30 psi air down the holes with air compressor.

I am just afraid if you don't ream out the grommet, you may have to go this again. So far since I did this in June, its still working. Good luck Kevin.

@@oldguy I went looking for the same grommet in my H3 today. It is NOT easy to spot until you know where it is, LOL, It is definitely not obvious. It was hiding way up high and WAY over to the left pretty much behind the vent as he indicated in the video. Butt! I could not see the grommet on the firewall. The first clue I had was looking way left and up behind the vent until I caught a glimpse of the black tube snaking its way out of the corner. I followed it and was able to see a part of the grommet where it went into the firewall. Butt! Then I could only barely reach the grommet with one hand and get my fingertips on it. I was scared to yank it cause I don't know how hard it is to get it back in there. And failure to reinstall means a direct leak. (Vs a direct leak you can't see).

Thank you! All of the important steps like getting the panel off without setting off the airbag were cut and we just get to listen to him talk about how he doesn't know what he's doing. Figure out the fix, shoot the important shots, cut it together and dub a voice over to make an instructional video. Standing around talking nonsense is not helpful.

Just bought my 2007 hummer H3, rained every other day since. floor has been wet but nothing around sunroof or inside pillar, but took out YAW sensor. Just did both front grommets in 20 minutes with only slim exacto knife. Replaced Yaw sensor in another 20. Keeping fingers crossed now.

Took my Hummer that right drain was leaking water on to floor. Took it to Crows Glass and they cleaned all my drains for $45 in 20 minutes

I did the driver's side but haven't done the passenger side yet. Drivers side was really easy though. QUESTION: Do you think it's necessary to do both sides? Will just one side being clear (hollowed out that plug) stop water from overflowing at the roof, since it will have at least one side to go to and drain? 🤔

Hi there , it was good if you could show from the Passenger side how did you take out that PLastic with your hands for drilling ? There is not room for hand going inside that corner once you opened that cover . Please explain .. thanks ..

its a good fix however they are very hard to get to from under the dash, but if you are in need of a windshield replacement when the glass guy removes the windshield they are just under the windshield and with a long pair of needle nose pliers you can easily get to them.

I finally found the Driver's grommet but can just barely get the fingers of one hand on it. Do I pull it out? Can it be reinstalled with one hand? It's really hard to reach! Help me!

Yep. gotta take it out and round out the grommet or it will plug up again. You can do it with one hand and it is a tight squeeze.

Ok…I’ve dropped the grommet attempting to reinstall. Now what? Help! Where can I purchase a new grommet? I’m NOT tearing the dashboard apart. I despise vehicles and I truly despise working on vehicles.

My hummer h3 was like that I didn’t do that all I did was take out hose from the sunroof and pulled it out from side of door and went to the gas station in went to the air station in blown air into hose got it out in works fine in haven’t have problem

I think it might get blocked again. My H3 sets out so get a lot of stuff in there.

I have had to do both sides. Not really that hard but it is a pretty tight squeeze. Beware that it is easy to dislodge the hose at the top of the sunroof and should that happen you have to take off the sun visor and pull back a little of the roof interior to reconnect it. once again, not that hard but you will be pissed off if it happens. All that being said, it is a piss poor design by Hummer from the grommet to the exit point. If happens to me again I'm running a tube down to the floor and let it empty into a jar and empty the jar as needed!! (or just send it out at a more accessible location!)

I see no reason to remove the A pillar, just take off the side panel, and VERY IMPORTANT, get someone with small hands and wrist and they can remove & replace the grommet in seconds after you cut out that center rubber "+" shaped piece....
